šæ Calling kindred folkā¦
Iām growing something called Folk School, a living learning community centered around the old and ever-relevant skills that help us become more capable and connected to place.
As I plan upcoming gatherings, Iām looking for:
š² LAND + GATHERING SPACES
Do you know of a beautiful wild or natural space where we could gather for a day of learning? Most of the time weāll also need a kitchen and/or covered space to create in.
š„ FOLK WITH SKILLS TO SHARE
Iād love to meet people who carry knowledge in things like foraging, hunting, wilderness skills, food preservation, fiber arts, woodworking, natural building, homesteading, crafts, cooking, land stewardship (all the practical skills that make us more self-reliant and connected to the places we call home).
š· PHOTOGRAPHERS + VIDEOGRAPHERS
Iām looking for someone who would enjoy capturing the spirit of these gatherings and creating some beautiful imagery together, potentially through a trade or other creative exchange.
š± WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LEARN?
What skills have you always wished someone would teach you? What traditional, practical, creative, or land-based knowledge would you love to bring back into your life?
And who else should I know? If a person, place, skill, or idea comes to mind, please comment below or send me a message.
Iām interested in growing something with people, a community where knowledge is shared, skills are passed from hand to hand, and we remember that we are part of something much older and more alive than ourselves.
If this sounds like your kind of gathering, Iād love to hear from you.
