A few months before the 50th Annual Powwow, the Idaho State Historical Society honored the Chief Lookingglass Powwow with one of the 2026 Esto Perpetua Awards in Boise, ID. Accepting the award on behalf of the Chief Lookingglass Powwow was Delores Broncheau who was accompanied by James and Feather Holt.
Copied from the ISHS website: Named for Idaho’s state motto—Esto Perpetua, meaning “Let it be perpetual”—this distinguished award celebrates the individuals and organizations whose efforts safeguard the stories, places, and traditions that define the Gem State.
Presented annually by the Idaho State Historical Society, the Esto Perpetua Awards honor those who go above and beyond to preserve and promote Idaho’s rich historical and cultural legacy. From restoring historic landmarks and conserving collections to sharing Idaho’s stories through education, scholarship, and community engagement, award recipients embody the spirit of stewardship and service.
Since its inception in 1999, more than 200 Idahoans—historians, tribal members, educators, volunteers, civic leaders, and cultural organizations—have been recognized for their extraordinary contributions. Their dedication ensures that Idaho’s diverse heritage is not only protected, but shared with future generations.
Each year, the ISHS brings together communities from across the state for an uplifting celebration of these honorees and the powerful impact of their work. The Esto Perpetua Awards ceremony is a moving tribute to those who help keep Idaho’s past alive—today, and always.
