Earlier this month the Kansas LEND Family Education Session was a School Preparedness for little ones! This was an excellent presentation by Molly and Jamie at Integrated Behavioral Technologies! 🎉

The session gets both you and your child ready for school: practical school readiness skills for your child, and navigating your school team for you. We'll teach skills like opening food packages, managing clothing and fasteners, and sitting near peers without wandering. These skills free your child to be available for academics, rather than requiring the teacher's time and attention on small self-help tasks. We'll walk through how to teach them at home step by step. We'll also cover how to navigate your school team, including who to contact if you want to explore special education services or general education support.

It was great connecting with incoming KU Medical students during the School of Medicine Activities Fair today! We loved sharing the short-term and medium-term opportunities available through Kansas LEND and how leadership education in neurodevelopmental and related disabilities can help improve the health and quality of life for neurodivergent individuals, individuals of all abilities, and their families.
You don't know what you don't know and that's why community connections matter!! Every conversation opens the door to new opportunities, partnerships, and perspectives. We can't wait to see where these future healthcare leaders go next!

If you work with young children, check out The Early Intervention Podcast, produced by Johnson County Infant Toddler Services. The topics are fantastic- interesting and relevant for anyone who works with this population. The current episode features our very own LEND faculty talking about one of our favorite interventions and flagship community training projects- Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
