I am so grateful that I learned to practice yoga. It has been life-changing for me as many of you know. I went from being restless, depressed, unhappy, and terribly out of shape to being at peace with myself, and others, content, fulfilled, and pretty doggone strong and flexible.
Recently I reflected on the many people who have helped make the difference. I thought of my foreign exchange “daughter” Rosa Valle who talked me into taking my first class over 20 years ago, and the wonderful instructor Vanessa Barrett who helped me feel good about doing yoga.
After a few years of attending classes I decided I wanted to teach other people because yoga had helped me so much. So I thought how grateful I am for Cindy Carpenter McClain who first hired me to teach at the Studio on Main - Pilates & Yoga and my faithful students there like Melinda Kreissler Boeh.
Eventually I pursued even more training The Yoga Studio yoga school and was reminded of my dear trainer Suzette Scholtes and all the fantastic professional yoga trainers I learned from there, like Aadil Palkhivala, Gary Kraftsow, and Doug Keller.
When I moved to Manhattan, KS I volunteered teaching yoga at K-State Noontime Yoga and made new friends. Soon I met Jessa Baxter Peterson who hired me to teach at her studio, giving me the opportunity to share yoga with many more people. I am so grateful for her and for that experience where I made friends and expanded my yoga knowledge and expertise.
Currently I am teaching private lessons which provides flexibility for people’s lives as well as my own. Feeling grateful now for all those students (you know who you are), I share this post now with a grateful heart. Happy Thanksgiving!
