Your input needed! If you have experience feeding gluten-free kiddos, I’d love you help.

I am working on a project with the food pantry where I volunteer to create gallon-sized bags filled with foods that are perfect for kids who need a snack or a meal simple enough to heat on their own. Here are the items that are included in the gluten-full bags:

Macaroni cups
Canned meals like raviolis, SpaghettiOs, things with the EASY OPEN POP TOP
Pop tarts
Granola bars
Fruit bars
Individual bags of crackers such as Goldfish and Cheez-Its
Peanut butter or cheese sandwiches or crackers

Do you have gluten-free recommendations for similar items?

Stop asking if I’ve checked the app! Maybe you feel this way, too…

When I am looking for dining out recommendations in city-specific FB groups or in celiac travel groups, I didn’t come there to be told to check a crowd-sourced app. I came to a group with real people, often in that city, who can tell me about their favorite places. Maybe we can even have a conversation, I can ask questions and they will reply. Others will chime in, there’s a whole community thing going on…

So while the apps have their place, when we ask in city-specific and travel groups, stop telling us to check an app. Let’s not forget about the community we have and forget we can actually converse and help each other eat well.

You need to try this vegetarian chili. I’m not a big fan of mushrooms, LOVE this chili. I’ve also seen carnivores go back for seconds. Tuck this one away, cooler days are coming and you’ll want to make this!

The mushrooms give a rich meaty taste to this popular vegetarian chili. Full of wonderful textures and flavors, this chili is even better on Day 2!

It’s tiiiiiime! 🎃 Not trying to rile you all up, but cooler weather is ahead and you need this recipe in your life. Plus now you can see it IRL on TikTok because Celiac in the City has done it up right.

Here’s the recipe, but first go watch Sarah’s video. This cake has become a classic, the recipe incredibly adaptable for many ways of eating. Can’t wait to hear who you share it with! https://injohnnaskitchen.com/2014/09/pumpkin-cinnamon-roll-cake/

After years of lurking, saving 3,732,914 videos, and learning all kinds of clever tidbits, I finally made my first TikTok video.

(And then almost deleted it. 😅)

It was perfect timing when Shirley gfe--gluten free easily shared the recipe from In Johnna's Kitchen for our family favorite Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll cake that’s both gluten free AND dairy free, but also super duper forgiving and lets me make it with a variety of flours, sugars, butters, milks, you name it. It never disappoints!

If you’re already on TikTok, come find me at . And if you have gluten-free creators/accounts (or ANY faves!) you love over there, SEND THEM MY WAY! I’m working my way out of my tiny little bubble.

👇🏻 I’ll add links in comments for TikTok and the recipe, but first enjoy a look at this beauty… and seriously, go make this or save it for fall! 🍁 🎃

LOVE this. Have you dined at Buttermilk Ranch?

Unpopular opinion amongst celiac travelers: pack your own snacks.

Every celiac travel group I am in is full of people complaining because the people who pay extra money for the premium seats get a package of Siete Family Foods cookies as one of their snacks on Southwest Airlines flights. There were also pistachios served on my most recent flight. I was one row back and got a gluten-y snack. Did I throw a fit? No. Did I tell the flight attendant I have a chronic disease protected by the ADA and I would report her if she didn’t give me the cookies? No. Did I threaten to contact the CEO? No.

Get it together, gluten-free peeps. Throwing a fit over a $1.50 package of cookies when you got on the plane with no guarantee of a gluten-free snack in any seat is wild. Didn’t you bring a week’s worth of snacks in your carryon? I get it, it’s awesome when we can be part of the same experience as regular eaters, but what a weird place to throw a full-on hissy fit.

You might also take a look around at the flight attendants right now. Their job is always hard, but the seating system changes haven’t gone well. They are trying so hard. Every flight I’ve been on lately has been a mess, people mad about having to gate check their carryon when there is literally no room left, people mad about assigned seating, A-listers mad they aren’t in the first boarding group. Change isn’t easy for everyone, but packing a snack is.
