💙 Today is World Mental Health Day, and I want to share a little reminder that our mental health isn’t just about what’s happening in our minds. Our bodies play a big role, too.
We often get so caught up in the busyness of life that we forget to slow down and pay attention to what our bodies are telling us. Tension in our shoulders, a tight chest, shallow breathing, feeling constantly on edge. These can all be signs that our nervous system is under stress.
Sometimes caring for our mental health starts with something as simple as slowing down, taking a few intentional breaths, and checking in with ourselves.
🌿 Try this today: Take a moment to get still. Breathe gently in through your nose, then slowly exhale through your mouth, allowing your exhale to be a little longer than your inhale. Repeat a few times. Notice how your body feels, without trying to change or fix anything.
Your body is always communicating with you. Sometimes we just need to get quiet enough to listen. 💙
