Kids don’t learn best from sitting at a table repeating flashcards all day. ✨

Now don’t get me wrong — there’s absolutely a time and place for structured teaching and direct instruction. But for most kids, and for most skills, true learning happens when those skills are practiced in meaningful, natural environments. That’s how skills generalize. 💛

Through play, kids are learning communication, flexibility, emotional regulation, problem solving, social interaction, independence, and so much more.

When used correctly, natural environment teaching is the most effective method for teaching and generalizing important skills.

So where does some therapy fall short? Only providing rigidly structured and contrived opportunities that don’t mimic real life situations. If a skill can only be performed under a perfectly curated scenario…it hasn’t been truly LEARNED.

At Shine we focus on natural and effective teaching opportunities - sometimes that means inviting siblings into the mix to practice skills that REALLY matter and make a lasting difference in your client families’ worlds.

⏰ Autism Evaluations - no waitlist ADOS-2 assessments. Decrease cost and time spent waiting for important service supports. Ages 18 mo - adulthood

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Caregiver Support - bundle in home, virtual and/or in school supports depending on your unique needs. Increase functional living and communication skills or decrease challenging behaviors with direct BCBA support and guidance.

🚽 Toilet Training Bundles - virtual only OR individualized support bundles to help tackle toilet training once and for all! Varying level of BCBA direct support available. Most families experience significant success in a two week period!
