With more than 15 years of healthcare experience, Katelyn has served in a variety of roles throughout her career, giving her a well-rounded perspective on patient care and the needs of those she serves. Her passion for nursing is rooted in advocacy, compassion, and a commitment to helping patients receive the highest quality care possible.

As Director of Clinical Services, Katelyn mentors fellow nurses, promotes best practices, and helps support the exceptional level of care Sequoia is known for. Her leadership helps strengthen both our clinical team and the experience of the patients and communities we serve.

Outside of work, Katelyn enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons and embracing the joys (and busyness) of family life. 🏡

Meet Jennifer Vanden Heuvel, COO, Director of Administration, and Co-Owner of Sequoia Integrative Medical Services. 💚

For more than 12 years, Jen has dedicated her career to serving older adults and their families across assisted living, nursing home, hospice, clinical, and administrative settings. Her experience has given her a deep appreciation for the importance of quality care, meaningful relationships, and helping individuals maintain the best possible quality of life throughout their aging journey.

At Sequoia, Jen helps oversee operations while fostering strong partnerships with providers, facility leaders, business associates, vendors, and the many people who help make exceptional care possible every day.
Outside of work, you'll often find her exploring shelled shorelines, enjoying warm weather, running, listening to music, and embracing her love of the salt life. 🌊☀️

Earlier this week, we introduced you to Dr. Mary Kate Friess and the journey that led her to co-found Sequoia Integrative Medical Services. As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we wanted to share another part of her story.

After already building a career as a family nurse practitioner, educator, and healthcare leader, Dr. Mary Kate chose to return to school because of her passion for helping individuals navigate mental health challenges. She earned a second master's degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Johns Hopkins University, adding specialized training to more than 30 years of clinical experience caring for patients and families.

Her commitment to lifelong learning reflects the belief that mental health is an essential part of whole-person care, deserving of attention, compassion, and expert support for the patients we serve at Sequoia Integrative Medical Services.

While Mental Health Awareness Month may be ending, the conversations, education, and care surrounding mental wellness continue every day. 💚
