We are excited to welcome Ryan G. Larsen, MD to the Kearney Urology Center, PC family as he begins caring for patients with us on September 1, 2026!

Dr. Ryan Larsen is a Nebraska native who is excited to call Kearney home. He grew up in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he played football for four years. He went on to earn his MD/MBA from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed his urology residency at UNMC.

Dr. Larsen met his wife, a North Platte native, while attending Nebraska Wesleyan. Together, they have two boys. After years of training, Ryan and his wife Maggie chose Kearney because they desired a smaller community to raise their family. They are excited to get involved in the community and to establish new relationships.

During his residency training, Dr. Larsen found that some of his favorite patients came from central and western Nebraska. He appreciated their friendliness, straightforwardness, and strong sense of community. These attributes again made Kearney feel like a natural fit for both his family and his medical practice.

Outside of medicine, the Larsen household is passionate about faith, family, and football. Dr. Larsen is also an avid reader and enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with family and friends. He is excited to become part of the Kearney community and looks forward to building lasting relationships with his patients and fellow healthcare professionals.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our friend, colleague, mentor, and the founder of Kearney Urology Center, Dr. Earl K. Larson, MD.

In 1974, Dr. Larson had the vision to establish Kearney Urology Center with a commitment to bringing exceptional urologic care to Central Nebraska. Over the decades, that vision grew into a practice that has served countless patients and families throughout the region. His skill as a surgeon was matched only by his compassion, integrity, humility, and genuine care for every person he met.

Generations of patients have been blessed by Dr. Larson's dedicated and compassionate care. His influence extends far beyond the operating room and clinic walls. He built a legacy rooted in excellence, service, and kindness—one that continues to guide our practice today.

To those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Dr. Larson was much more than a physician. He was a trusted friend, an exceptional colleague, and a mentor who generously shared his wisdom, encouraged those around him, and led by quiet example. His character shaped not only the practice he founded but also the people fortunate enough to learn from him.

While we grieve his loss, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and the lasting impact he made on our community. The region has been incredibly fortunate to have been under Dr. Larson's dedicated, skilled, and compassionate urologic care for more than five decades.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, former colleagues, staff, and the many patients whose lives he touched.

Thank you, Dr. Larson, for your vision, your leadership, your friendship, and your unwavering commitment to caring for others. Your legacy will continue to live on through Kearney Urology Center and in the countless lives you have changed.

Rest in peace, Dr. Larson. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

We’re proud to share that our very own Garrett D Pohlman, M.D. of Kearney Urology Center appeared on national television this evening with Dr. Drew on Fox Business’ Dr. Drew’s Health Uncensored to discuss the future of prostate cancer detection and screening.

For decades, prostate cancer screening has relied on tools that are helpful — but often imperfect. Elevated PSA levels, inconclusive imaging, and invasive biopsies can create uncertainty and anxiety for patients, sometimes even when cancer is not present.

During the segment, Dr. Pohlman discussed how emerging technologies, including clinically validated blood-based molecular testing from Oxford BioDynamics, may help provide greater clarity in prostate cancer evaluation. By identifying unique molecular signals associated with prostate cancer, these advancements can help physicians better determine which patients truly need additional testing — and which may safely avoid unnecessary procedures.

Most importantly, this is about improving patient care: reducing uncertainty, minimizing unnecessary biopsies, and helping men move forward with greater confidence and peace of mind.

We are honored to see Dr. Pohlman helping bring important conversations about innovation in prostate cancer care to a national audience.

Drs. Laroy Williams and Garrett Pohlman continue to advance prostate cancer care with innovative protection during radiation therapy with the BioProtect biodegradable re**al balloon spacer. Think of it like a Pillow for the Prostate.

This spacer is designed to protect the re**um from radiation during prostate radiotherapy, which helps reduce side effects and improve the patient's quality of life. Unlike other spacers the biodegradable balloon can be repositioned if necessary and is safely inserted using blunt dissection, thereby minimizing the risk of re**al injury.

Definitely exciting times for both patients and Urologists! Garrett D Pohlman, M.D. was invited to reflect on the BPH offerings from the American Urological Association Annual Meeting in Las Vegas for .

Definitely not a one size fits all when it comes to BPH treatment. Patients are now more vocal than ever and demand options that minimize adverse events - and are seeking out options that minimize the risk of negatively affecting ejaculatory dysfunction. Urologists must remain flexible in their approach to BPH care and stay up to speed on the newest innovations coming to market and the updated clinical data available.
