Often, we are told what our blood pressure status is.
Normal, high, low. π€
Occasionally, we are told what the actual numbers are, 120/80, 170/94, 102/60.
Rarely, are we told what it means. πΆ
When we check blood pressure we are measuring the pressure in the arteries during different phases of the heart's pumping cycle. The systolic pressure (top number) is reflective of the maximum pressure in the arteries, when the heart contracts. π©Ίπ«
The diastolic pressure (bottom number) is a measurement of the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest, in between beats. Understanding what we are measuring and what it means is a key part of knowing how it may be affecting your body, and how you may be able to support it.
Natural ways of maintaining a healthy blood pressure include, a low sodium (salt) diet, healthy weight management, reduced stress, limit to***co and alcohol, eat a heart-healthy diet, hydrate and drink water!
