This week, Dr. Melinda Butler Henderson, OTR/L, OTD, BCPA, QCP, CLT, Chief Development Officer, and Kathy Jeffries-Smith, BA, COTA, RAC-CT, QCP, Compliance Director, visited both Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, Georgia, and Appling Healthcare in Baxley, Georgia, for an in-person Masterclass focused on lymphedema therapy and certification!

Both rehabilitation teams had the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of lymphedema therapy, its effects on the body, and the impact these specialized techniques can have on patient care. The sessions also included hands-on learning, giving team members the opportunity to practice techniques with one another!

We’re proud to continue investing in education, specialized skills, and opportunities that strengthen the care our rehabilitation teams provide. 💙

Melinda Butler Henderson, BenCura's Chief Development Officer, is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). She began her career as an occupational therapist before moving into healthcare leadership, and she has carried that clinical lens with her at every step. A huge shoutout to Griffin Martin, Director of Rehabilitation, and Michael Sears, Assistant Director of Rehabilitation, at Clinch Memorial Hospital for their presentation during Tuesday Night Talk on Fall Prevention & Home Safety!

Griffin and Michael shared practical tips on reducing fall risks, improving home safety, and helping individuals maintain their independence. We’re proud of the way they represent BenCura and Clinch Memorial through their leadership, knowledge, and commitment to serving the community.

Fall mats don't prevent falls. Research says so, and so does every IDT that has had to investigate a repeat incident.
