Help us find our next dance floor. 🦶✨

We’re looking for NYC venues to host Shabbat ecstatic dances in 2027: spaces where we can welcome Shabbat through movement, music, deep rest, and community.

Think yoga studios, synagogues, community spaces, or somewhere we haven’t imagined yet. Room to move, a floor that welcomes bare feet, and Friday night availability are a good place to start.

Know a space? Know someone we should talk to? Comment below or send us a DM. And share this with someone whose neighborhood could use a little more Shabbat dancing.

This is also what Jewish community can look like.

On Thursday, 150 people gathered at Kane Street Synagogue for We Will Dance Again.

We came with different backgrounds, different relationships to Judaism, and whatever these past few years have held for each of us. Together, we made room for movement, connection, rest, and joy.

These first photos capture a few pieces of the evening: arms reaching, people finding one another, a painting taking shape, a moment to lie down and breathe.

Thank you to Kane Street Synagogue, OpenLev, our artists and facilitators, and everyone who brought themselves into the room.

If you were there, what’s one moment that stayed with you?

We believe deeply in Shabbat not only as a practice for Jews, but as a Jewish practice for the world. We’re grateful to have brought the magic of Shabbat to junxioncampout at the beautiful Moonrise Valley 🌳🛶🌕 Events • Weddings • Retreats • Lodging

Thank you to Nina Meyers, Benji Barak Hadar and Lawrence Dreyfuss🤸‍♂️🌹 for shaping the ritual. Thank you to Myk Tummolo for inviting us and making it happen.

Three years later, there is so much we are still carrying.

Grief. Anger. Confusion. Longing. Love. Exhaustion. Hope.

On October 8, we’re creating a space where none of it needs to be resolved before we come together.

WE WILL DANCE AGAIN is an evening of movement, music, ritual, art, and deep rest. A chance to bring whatever these last three years have held for you, and to move together from mourning toward resilient joy.

Not because joy erases what has happened. Because joy, too, belongs in the body.

Reform, Conservative, Renewal, Orthodox, observant, secular, questioning. One room. One dance floor. Come as you are.

Featuring:

✨ DJ set by The Jewish Embodiment Lab founder DJ Oatmeal Lawrence Dreyfuss🤸‍♂️🌹

Still buzzing from last night.

A packed room, a lot of sweat, a lot of joy, and a version of Shabbat that felt fully alive in the body.

Thank you to everyone who came to dance, schvitz, celebrate, and make the room what it was.

More soon. ✨

JEMLab is heading to junxioncampout 🐝

We’re building a camp for the weekend: a festival-wide guided Shabbat, workshops, a place to land in the middle of it all. Bonus timing, it lands right as Sukkot begins, the week we build temporary shelters on purpose. Feels right for a campground full of people doing exactly that.
Come find us. Whole festival’s invited to Shabbat, not just us.

Use code JCshabbat for a discount on your ticket. Link in bio.
