✨ Sometimes LESS pressure creates MORE change. ✨

Have you ever thought massage had to be deep, intense, or even painful to be effective? Positional Release Therapy (PRT) is a great example of why that isn’t always true.

PRT is a gentle bodywork technique that involves placing the body or a specific area into a position of comfort. Instead of forcing tight tissue to release, we reduce tension and give the nervous system an opportunity to let go.

💜 Why can it be effective?

By positioning an area where it feels more comfortable and relaxed, PRT may help:
• Decrease muscle guarding and tension
• Reduce tenderness and discomfort
• Calm an overprotective nervous system response
• Improve comfortable movement and range of motion
• Address sensitive areas without aggressive pressure

This can be especially helpful when an area is already irritated or when deeper pressure causes the body to tense up and fight against the work.

One of the things I love about bodywork is that effective doesn’t always mean deeper. Sometimes the body responds best when we stop trying to force change and give it the right environment to make that change.

🌿 Gentle work can still be powerful work.

09/26/2026

Hi everyone,

Your jaw and hips may seem far apart, but they both take part in how your body moves and responds to tension. If you’ve been dealing with jaw pain and hip discomfort, it’s worth paying attention to both.

Think about a stressful day: you may catch yourself clenching your teeth, tightening your shoulders, and holding tension elsewhere in your body. You may also notice that discomfort changes the way you sit, stand, or move. These patterns can overlap, though having pain in both places does not mean one is causing the other.

That’s why I like to ask questions and look beyond the spot that hurts. During a TMJ consultation, we can talk about your jaw symptoms, any hip discomfort you’ve noticed, and the habits or movements that seem to affect them. From there, I can tailor massage and bodywork to the muscle tension and movement concerns within my scope of practice.

A few things to notice this week:

Do you clench your jaw when you’re concentrating or stressed?

Does hip discomfort show up after sitting, walking, or certain activities?

Do your jaw and hip symptoms flare up around the same time?

You don’t have to figure out the connection on your own. If you’re experiencing jaw pain, hip discomfort, or both, let’s start with a conversation about what you’re noticing.
