🎃👻 A LITTLE INTRODUCTION, A WHOLE LOT OF THANK YOU, AND A BOATLOAD OF CANDY! 🍬🧡
Hi, everyone! For those who may not know me, I’m Brooke Hayslip, Admissions and Community Marketing Director at Kettering Heights Post Acute! 👋 And if you’ve ever wondered who the crazy person is behind our events, running around like a headless horseman with a clipboard, a million ideas, and probably a little too much caffeine… well, now you know! 😂🎃
Now that I’ve introduced myself, I need to take a moment to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! ❤️
Our Trunk or Treat 2026 was an absolute SUCCESS, with an estimated 1,000+ people in attendance!!! 🤯🎃🍬
First and foremost, THANK YOU to our amazing staff, our wonderful community, and our incredible professional partners who came out, donated, volunteered, and helped bring this event to life. Whether you donated candy, decorated a trunk, served food, volunteered your time, or simply showed up to enjoy the festivities, YOU helped make this happen!
I’m not even exaggerating when I say this is my FAVORITE event to plan and organize all year long! 🧡
There is something incredibly special about seeing our community come together at our facility, watching families laugh and make memories, seeing our staff having fun, and watching our residents enjoy all the excitement. THAT is what makes every late night, every planning meeting, every last-minute panic, and every “WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?!” moment completely worth it. 🥹❤️
What started as a little Trunk or Treat idea has somehow turned into a FULL-BLOWN HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL! 👻🎃 And naturally, my brain is already thinking about how to make it BIGGER and BETTER next year. Because apparently, I have no concept of doing things halfway. 🤣
My ONLY wish? A parking lot approximately the size of the state of Ohio! 🚗😂 We had SO many people come out, and while we were thrilled to see everyone, I’m pretty sure our parking lot was questioning every life decision that led it to this moment. LOL!
I look forward to this event ALL YEAR LONG, and seeing the community show up in such a big way reminds me exactly why I love what I do. This is about more than candy, costumes, haunted buses, and Halloween fun. It’s about CONNECTION, COMMUNITY, and creating a place where people can come together and make memories. And for that, I am beyond grateful. 🧡

💛 Our AMAZING Management Team: Thank you for working together, supporting the madness, and helping make this event such a success! Teamwork makes the dream work… especially when the dream involves 1,000+ people and enough candy to put a small convenience store out of business. 😂🍬
A special shout-out to Kristen Jones for making the mid-event candy run! Because apparently, when you invite the entire community to a Halloween festival, the candy supply has a mysterious tendency to disappear. Who could have possibly predicted that?! 🤣
💛 Dawanda Reeder: I genuinely do not know how to thank you enough! You worked more hours than I can count popping popcorn ALL DAY LONG and made 1,000 HOT DOGS to feed our hungry guests! 🌭🍿 If anyone deserves a standing ovation, a nap, and possibly a trophy shaped like a hot dog, it’s YOU! Thank you for putting in so much time and hard work to keep everyone fed!
💛 Terry Randolph, one of our residents’ family members: You stood right alongside Dawanda serving food for the ENTIRE event, AND donated a boatload of candy! 🍬❤️ You went above and beyond, and we are so grateful for your generosity, your time, and your willingness to jump right in and help. You are truly appreciated!
💛 Kevin Gati: Thank you for running the candy bin around all night, taking over popcorn duty for a while, and helping with the dreaded cleanup! 😂🍿 At this point, I think we owe you a step counter sponsorship and a lifetime supply of popcorn. Thank you for being willing to help wherever you were needed and for always supporting my craziness!
💛 Shout out to all of the spouses and kids of our staff who came, decorated a trunk, and participated in the madness! You guys are our biggest cheerleaders!
To everyone who donated, volunteered, worked behind the scenes, helped with setup and cleanup, served food, handed out candy, or simply cheered us on: THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS! ❤️
Events like this don't happen because of one person. They happen because a whole community comes together, people show up for one another, and everyone is willing to pitch in to make something special happen.
And if this year was any indication, 2027 HAS SOME PRETTY BIG SHOES TO FILL! 🎃👻😂
I’m already counting down the days until next year. Thank you for making this one so incredibly special, and thank you for allowing Kettering Heights Post Acute to be a place where our community can gather, connect, and make memories.
