What can make birth feel like paradise? 🏝

While the intensity of labor may not always feel like an island in the sun, there is a lot that happens in the birth space that can make birth empowering, positive one (or not). As a doula, my goal is that the birthing person's experience, preferences, and autonomy are centered through the process as it unfolds.

A birth plan is one of the tools we use to capture and share those preferences with a birth team. It helps us understand what will make birth feel like paradise, even if birth doesn't unfold in the way you thought it might.

Labor unfolds in its own time. Supporting that rhythm—rather than controlling it—allows the body to work efficiently and naturally. Patience is part of the process.

Ode to our collective mother 🌎🌊

For those of you who don't know, I have a deep passion for protecting mama earth and ocean. The intimate connection between the health of our planet and the health of women, babies, and families is too strong to be ignored.

Without clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and a livable planet, we cannot support the incredible lives we welcome day in and day out.

Today, we celebrate the original mother, the one from whom all life is born.

She deserves all of the support, love, sovereignty, and advocacy we lend to every mother today and every day 🩵💙🩵

Words are powerful. In birth, they bring rhythm and ritual into the sacred space to support birthing people and families. During the intensity of the flow of labor, they remind us of our strength, power, and body and baby's intelligent design to birth. They help us remember to drop in, drop our shoulders, and breathe when we are feeling it all so strongly.

Celebrating one full trip around the sun of motherhood. One year of breastfeeding, of postpartum, of integration, of selfless love, of purpose.

Becoming your mom shook me to my core and reshaped my identity forever. I love you and I'm so grateful for everything you've taught me this year through every late night and early morning. You inspired me to take a leap into birth work and lend presence and support to families through their own birth journeys.
