I’d love to share a few highlights from last week's diabetes conference in beautiful Keystone, Colorado!
It was such a privilege to spend the week learning alongside diabetes educators, clinicians, and researchers who are all passionate about improving the lives of people living with diabetes. I came home inspired—and with pages of notes!
Some of the exciting topics that stood out:
✨ Once-weekly basal insulin as an alternative to daily injections
✨ Advances in insulin delivery, including inhaled insulin and the potential for its use with insulin pumps
✨ Next-generation CGMs that are even smaller, including combination glucose/ketone monitors
✨ Continued discussion around the benefits of GLP-1 medications and the excitement surrounding emerging therapies like retatrutide
✨ The importance of appropriate testing at diagnosis to accurately distinguish type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and other forms of diabetes
✨ So many new insulin pump innovations designed to improve quality of life and glucose management
And honestly...that's just scratching the surface. 🤯 There was so much incredible information that I'll be going back through my notes and reviewing presentations over the next few weeks.
One of my favorite parts of being a Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (DCES) is staying current with the latest research and technology so I can provide the best, evidence-based care to my clients.
The future of diabetes care is incredibly exciting, and I can't wait to see these innovations continue to improve the lives of those living with diabetes. 💙
