We're growing our team 🤍

Total Mind & Body is hiring a Part-Time Front Office / Medical Assistant in Kingman.

We're looking for someone who is warm, dependable, organized, and genuinely enjoys taking care of people. You'll often be the first person our patients speak with on the phone and the first face they see when they walk through our doors, so how you make people feel matters to us. 😌

This position will begin with front-office responsibilities and transition into a Medical Assistant role with training provided. Medical office, CNA/LNA, MA, or other patient-care experience (nursing student) is a plus, but we're most interested in finding the right person who is eager to learn and grow with our practice.⚕️

Because of the way we practice, we'd especially love someone who believes that mental and physical health are connected and is excited about Total Mind & Body's whole-person approach to care. 🏃‍➡️

🗓️ Schedule:
Monday-Thursday | 1-5 PM
Friday | 8 AM-12 PM
20 hours/week

💲 Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.

📍Kingman, AZ

➡️ Applications accepted through October 1.

🌱 We're looking for someone who doesn't just want a job at the front desk - we want someone who wants to become part of TMB and grow with us.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. 💙

But prevention shouldn’t begin when someone is already in crisis.

It starts earlier.

It starts when we notice someone isn’t quite themselves.
When we ask the uncomfortable question instead of assuming they’re okay.
When we take hopelessness seriously.
When we recognize changes in sleep, isolation, substance use, agitation, impulsivity, or behavior.
When we create space for someone to say, “I’m not okay,” before they reach the point of “I can’t do this anymore.”

Someone can still go to work.
Take care of their family.
Laugh with you.
Show up for everyone else.

And still be struggling significantly underneath it.

Throughout September, we’re going to talk about su***de prevention differently—not only what to do in an emergency, but how we recognize risk earlier, how we have difficult conversations, what suicidal thoughts can actually look like, and how we intervene before crisis.

Notice sooner. Ask sooner. Talk sooner. Treat sooner.

Because prevention starts sooner. 💙

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. In the U.S., call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

You matter.

What if the symptom isn’t the disease? What if it’s information?

When someone sits across from us and says, “I have depression,” “I have anxiety,” or “I have ADHD,” we don’t just accept the label and stop there.

We want to know why you’re experiencing what you’re experiencing.

When did it start?
What changed around that time?
How are you sleeping?
What have you been through?
What does your life look like right now?
What are you eating?
What medications or substances are involved?
What’s happening medically or hormonally?

Because a diagnosis can describe a pattern of symptoms.

It doesn’t always explain what’s driving them.

Sometimes what looks like a psychiatric disorder may actually be a behavior, adaptation, deficit, or consequence of something else.

Sometimes your nervous system adapted to survive something.

Sometimes chronic sleep deprivation is affecting your mood, attention, and ability to function.

Sometimes your physical health is showing up through psychiatric symptoms.

Sometimes your environment or relationships are contributing.

And sometimes, yes, there is a psychiatric disorder that needs treatment.

That’s why we don’t want to automatically blame everything on trauma, hormones, nutrition, lifestyle—or a psychiatric diagnosis.

We want to know what is actually happening.

We’re not anti-diagnosis.
We’re not anti-medication.

Medication can be an incredibly valuable part of treatment.

We’re anti-stopping there.

Because our job isn’t just to identify your symptoms and make them quieter.

It’s to understand enough of the whole picture to make sure we’re treating the right thing.

That’s why one of the principles behind how we practice is:

Zoom out before you zoom in.

If you’ve been treating the same symptoms over and over without ever really understanding why they’re there, maybe it’s time to zoom out.

Ready to look at the whole picture?
Schedule a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with Total Mind & Body.

Meet Cali 🐾

If you’ve been in my office lately, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve already met her.

Cali has been coming to work with me more often, and somewhere along the way, she has managed to become one of the most popular members of Total Mind & Body.

And in true TMB fashion, Cali has a little anxiety of her own. She may be tiny, but she’s a pretty good reminder that sometimes we can feel nervous and still show up anyway. 🫶🏼

Mental health care can involve some really heavy conversations. And sometimes, in the middle of all of that, a tiny dog wandering over, making someone smile, or simply changing the energy in the room for a minute can be a really good thing.

Cali isn’t a therapy or service dog — she’s simply my office buddy, and she only joins visits when patients are comfortable having her there.

Her current job description includes boosting morale, accepting attention, supervising everything I do, and reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously.

We think she’s doing an excellent job so far. 💙

One response from our Kingman Middle School
Safety Week board has stayed with me.

We asked students:
"What is hard about being your age?"

One student wrote:
"The suicidal people."
Just three words.

As a psychiatric provider, this is the kind of answer that makes me pay attention-not because every concerning statement means a child is suicidal, but because it reminds us how early kids can become exposed to suicidal thoughts, self-harm, crisis, and the emotional responsibility of worrying about their friends.

Sometimes a child isn't the one in crisis.
Sometimes they're the friend receiving the late-night text. The one being asked to keep a secret.

The one trying to decide whether telling an adult is
"betraying" someone. The one carrying something far too heavy for their age.

Kids should never be expected to manage another child's su***de risk alone.

I want them to know:

If a friend talks about wanting to die, hurting themselves, not wanting to be here, or makes you genuinely afraid for their safety—tell a trusted adult.

Even if they told you not to.
Even if they get angry.
Even if you aren't sure how serious they are.

You do not need to diagnose them.
You do not need to become their therapist.

Your job is to get help.

And for adults: keep creating spaces where kids can tell us what they're carrying. Sometimes they won't walk up and say, "I'm overwhelmed by my friend's suicidality."

Sometimes they'll write three words on a sticky note.
Pay attention.

If you or someone you know may be in immediate danger, call 911. In the U.S., call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

My door is always open. We are here to help 💙

This week, Total Mind & Body had the opportunity to join Kingman Middle School for Safety Week. 💙

We spent the day talking with students about mental health, connecting with them, and giving them a place to anonymously answer one simple question:

"What is hard about being your age?"

We weren't looking for perfect answers. We just wanted to hear from them.

And they answered.

Math. Testing. Grades. Teachers.
Friendships. Crushes. Fitting in. Finding your people.

Some answers made us laugh.
Some made us think.
And some stopped us in our tracks.

One student wrote:
"Sometimes we can't speak how we feel and we just need someone to understand."

That one stayed with us.

Because kids don't always have the language to explain what is happening inside of them. Sometimes distress looks like irritability, withdrawal, acting out, falling grades, anxiety—or silence.

And sometimes, before we try to fix anything, they just need someone willing to listen long enough to understand.

To every Kingman Middle School student who stopped by our table, talked with us, laughed with us, and trusted us with a little piece of what it feels like to be your age right now:

Thank you. We heard you. 💙

And to the parents, teachers, coaches, counselors, and other adults caring for them:

Keep asking the questions.
Keep creating opportunities for them to answer.
And when they do-listen.

Their struggles are real. Their voices matter. And sometimes the most important thing we can give a kid is a safe place to be heard.

Thank vou, Kingman Middle School, for including Total Mind & Body in Safety Week. 💙

Please help us officially welcome Alyssa Johnston to Total Mind & Body! 💙

Alyssa is a Licensed Associate Counselor who believes healing begins when people feel safe, seen, and supported—a philosophy that aligns beautifully with the way we approach care at Total Mind & Body.

Her work is holistic, person-centered, and grounded in the understanding that mental and physical health are deeply connected. She brings training in EMDR, Ketamine-Assisted EMDR, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, trauma-informed care, and perinatal mental health, with additional experience supporting first responders and their families.

Alyssa is passionate about helping people navigate trauma, life transitions, and the challenges that can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves. Her goal is to create a grounded, compassionate space where clients can reconnect, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

We're incredibly excited about what Alyssa brings to our team and, even more importantly, what her addition means for expanding access to therapy in our community.

Alyssa is now accepting new clients, including weekend appointments.

Another one for the wall. 🖤💙🖤

Our patch wall continues to grow, and every new addition means something to us.

These patches represent first responders and departments who have trusted Total Mind & Body to be part of their story — but they also represent where we came from.

TMB was built with deep roots in the first responder community. Years spent working alongside law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatchers, and flight crews helped shape the way we understand trauma, mental health, and the people behind the uniform.

Today, a patient brought us this Kingman Police Department patch to add to the collection.

We never take that trust lightly.

Every patch has a story. We’re incredibly grateful to be trusted with so many of them. 💙

We are incredibly honored to share that Total
Mind & Body has been nominated for the 2026 Andy Awards BUSINESS OF THE YEAR!

This recognition comes just one week after celebrating our first anniversary, making this moment especially meaningful to our entire team.

To whoever took the time to nominate Total Mind
& Body - THANK YOU 🥹❤️

And to the Kingman community: thank you for trusting us, supporting us, referring your friends and family to us, and allowing us the opportunity to serve this community over the past year.

To be recognized alongside seven other incredible local businesses after just one year is an honor we don't take lightly.

We are incredibly proud of what we've built together - and even more excited about what's ahead.

What an incredible way to begin year two.
