💭 Sometimes the thing that started your symptoms is not the same thing keeping them going. 👇

That can be one of the hardest parts of ME/CFS, long COVID, and other neuroplastic symptoms to wrap our minds around.

A virus, infection, injury, stressful season, or food poisoning can absolutely be the original trigger. The body sends a real danger signal. The brain responds. Symptoms happen.

But over time, the brain can start using that old experience as a prediction for what is safe and unsafe now.

So even when the original threat has passed, the nervous system may still be responding as if danger is present.

That does not mean your symptoms are fake.

It means your brain may be working from outdated danger data.

And this is where brain retraining can be so powerful. We are gently, gradually giving the brain and nervous system new information:

I’m safe now.
This does not have to mean danger anymore.
My body can learn something new.

And if you’re curious to learn more about how this works and other tools and strategies, I’ve got a completely free five day brain retraining course.

💭If your ears ring, hiss, pulse, click, or feel “off” in a way no one has been able to fully explain… 👇

This episode is for you.

Dr. Marcia Dewey is a clinical audiologist who looks at tinnitus, sound sensitivity, dizziness, and other ear symptoms through a neuroplastic lens.

She explains that these symptoms can become part of a learned danger response.

That doesn’t mean they’re “not real.”

It means the brain and nervous system may be amplifying them because they feel threatening.

And when we start changing the relationship with the symptom, gently and safely, the brain can learn something new.

This clip includes such a powerful example of that.

👉 If you’ve been trying to avoid every possible flare-up trigger, this part of my conversation with Olga is worth hearing.

Avoidance makes sense at first.

You’re trying to stay safe.
You’re trying not to make things worse.
You’re trying to understand what your body can and can’t handle.

But over time, your brain can start labeling more and more things as threats. And before you know it, life gets smaller and smaller.

I loved how Olga put this:

"Feel it. Don't Fuel it."

Comment “Olga,” and I’ll share the full episode.

💭 What if doubt isn’t a problem?👇

What if doubt is actually where many recovery stories begin?

Dr. Howard Schubiner talks about Fiona, who joined Curable to prove it wouldn’t work for her.

But as she kept reading and learning, she began to see how the science connected with her own symptoms, her own history, and her own life.

That was the turning point.

If you’ve been thinking, “This makes sense… but I’m not sure it applies to me,” Curable can be a gentle place to start exploring.

No pressure to believe it all at once.

Just stay curious.

💭 Dr. Howard Schubiner is back on the channel for a powerful conversation on neuroplastic symptoms, chronic pain, fatigue, Long COVID, ME/CFS, and what recovery can actually look like. 👇

After sharing 250+ recovery stories on this channel, one thing has become very clear:

People. are. getting. better.

And one of the most encouraging reminders from this interview is that this is not just a handful of inspiring stories.

Dr. Schubiner’s book includes over 800 citations and hundreds of names of people who have recovered, including mine.

That matters because when you’re still in the middle of symptoms, it can feel like recovery is happening for “other people.”

But the more you hear these stories, the more you start to realize this is not fringe.

It’s a growing movement.

I’ll be honest… this one felt a little uncomfortable to talk about. 😅

There are a few things I’ve heard repeated in chronic illness and recovery spaces that I’ve smiled and nodded along to… while quietly thinking:

“That doesn’t actually make sense.”

So in this video, I’m digging into a few nervous system ideas that get repeated a lot:

👉 “You’re stuck in fight or flight”
👉 “You’re in freeze or fawn”
👉 “Your symptom means you have a specific emotional issue to decode”

And we’re looking at what’s actually supported by the research… and what might be more theory than fact.

💭 For a long time, I thought chronic symptoms came from the body finally saying:
“Too much. I’m done.” 👇

But now I see it differently.

It may not be just about doing too much. It may also be about repeated danger signals in the nervous system.

💭 I went head-to-head with an AI trained on ME/CFS and Long Covid recovery. 😅

This was such a different kind of episode.

Chris Sykes-Popham, founder of Freeme, joined me to test Isla, the first AI chatbot trained specifically on ME/CFS and Long Covid recovery.

The idea was simple:

Chris asks the questions people care about most.

I answer from years of interviews, research, conferences, and conversations with recovered people.

Then Isla answers too.

Can AI actually give helpful recovery guidance?

That’s what we wanted to find out.
