🌿 How do you start your day?
It’s so easy to wake up and immediately grab your phone, check emails, scroll social media, turn on the news or start thinking about everything that needs to get done.
Before you know it, your brain is already dealing with everyone else’s needs and all the stress of the day — before you’ve done anything to take care of you.
What if you gave yourself a little time to get grounded first?
And with our mornings getting darker, getting outside first thing isn’t always realistic. Some of us are up LONG before the sun! 😂
If it’s still dark, you could:
🫁 Take a few slow, intentional breaths
🙏 Sit quietly, pray or meditate
📖 Read something positive
✍️ Journal or write down what you’re grateful for
🧘♀️ Stretch or do a little yoga
💧 Drink some water
📵 Stay away from emails, news and social media for a little while
I start my mornings with SAVERS from Hal Elrod’s Miracle Morning — Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading and Scribing.
Then, when daylight arrives, get outside if you can. ☀️ Walk, bike, sit on the porch or simply step outside and get some natural light.
You don’t have to do ALL of this.
Choose one or two things and try them for a week. Pay attention to your mood, energy, patience and focus.
Sometimes taking better care of ourselves doesn’t require a huge overhaul.
It starts with a few intentional minutes before we give the rest of the world our attention. 💚
