• Potentially useful knowledge for name ideas: I love alliteration, I love puns, I love fall! The current tentative name for the collection as a whole is: Falling for Glitters, but may get revamped? Think sparkle, think fall weather, activities, foods, the works! I do have a bit of a list already, however it's a bit haphazard so hopefully combining y'alls wonderful suggestions along with my list will create something truly magical for us to enjoy together 😊
(Keep in mind this is NOT a Halloween collection.)

• No idea how many winners will be selected, as there's a LOT to name 😎 This should be fun and a little bit chaotic 😅

• Due to the creative nature involved, this is NOT a contest where random entries will be chosen. Instead I will hand pick the winners/polish names that fit the collection best.

Have you ever taken a moment to consider how utterly heartbreaking it is that so many people across time find connection and empowerment from Medusa's tale? Is it any wonder that in this patriarchal society for many of us, our first introduction to her is of her "monstrous" side and not the betrayal and injustice she faced first? While Medusa's tragic story is from mythology, for countless others, the eerie similarities are our reality.

Channeling the reminder that we are strong, powerful, and resilient despite the nightmares we've endured, I created September's Feathered Hope: Petrify the Patriarchy. Petrify the Patriarchy is an empress teal based polish with scattered holo and a soft gold/green/cyan shifting shimmer.

Petrify the Patriarchy will be benefiting Unchained At Last, an incredible survivor-led organization who fights tirelessly to end forced marriage and child marriage within the US. FFL will be donating $2 from every bottle of Petrify the Patriarchy sold to help aid Unchained at Last in their work.

August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month, which is a disorder I'm personally not too familiar with. However, when my birthday twin, Jillian, (Jillian) reached out wanting to help spread awareness of gastroparesis along with other GI issues, I knew I wanted to help. The ribbon color for Gastroparesis Awareness is green so we used that for our starting point. Together we created Be Cautious, I'm Nauseous and FFL will be donating $2 for each bottle sold to IFFGD (International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders).

Be Cautious, I'm Nauseous is a glitter bomb bursting with lime and green metallic mini glitters, lime & green holo micro glitters, and green reflective glitters.

Here's an educational tidbit from Jillian, sharing a further glimpse into gastroparesis:

"Gastroparesis is a disorder in which stomach muscles don’t work as they should, causing a delay in digestion. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, pain, and bloating, and may vary in severity, frequency, and duration. While it can typically be managed with dietary changes, medication, and surgery, there is no cure and can lead to dehydration, malnutrition, and blood sugar fluctuations. In a world in which socializing often involves food and drinks, gastroparesis can have an isolating effect on top of the physical challenges.

By raising awareness of gastroparesis, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for patients as well as their friends and family. IFFGD advocates to improve diagnosis, treatment options, and quality of life for people suffering from gastroparesis."

Popping in real quick to do one of my favorite things: share how much we've worked together to help others and make the world a little better & brighter! 🥹🎉

Creating FFL as a way to honor my sweet Morgan, and having y'all join me, so we have something to quantify and multiply the small spark of good we collectively bring to the world in her memory always leaves me absolutely stunned and humbled. Staying on theme with the final FFL offering for Little Lacquer Box is a new exclusive scent, Six Feet Under, in our beloved glossy True Tranquility QDTC.

Six Feet Under is a very unique earthy scent with notes of: earth, petrichor, green florals, cucumber, patchouli, and moss.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I love this scent. It's fresh earthen aroma is one I have wanted to release for years but hadn't found the right spot for it, until now! Your mileage may vary, but personally I still had lingering scent 5-6 days after application. If you love gardening, forests, the magical scent of petrichor, or just want something to help you feel a little more grounded, I cannot recommend Six Feet Under enough.

For FFL's second Little Lacquer Box offering, we're delving a little more into that history I mentioned on Buried Alive's post.

"Necessity is the mother of invention." Nothing could be more true when applied to safety or security coffins, that really came into their stride in the 18th and 19th centuries, with some variations still available today. For this next polish, I found inspiration with the design of Taberger's safety coffin, which used a bell, with several cords tied the hands, head, and feet of the deceased's body. Should they awake and not actually be deceased, the movement would ring the bell, alerting cemetery watchman so rescue efforts could begin.

Toll for Taphophobia (the fear of being buried alive) is a warm, rich butterscotch base ringing with copper/gold shifting shimmer.

It's the first day to start wishlisting over at Little Lacquer Box , so let's see what you can find over there from FFL! Be sure to check out the other talented makers there too, there are so many great looking products!

For all three FFL offerings, I found inspiration in a combination of the first childhood nightmare I can recall, and some fascinating albeit terrifying history of being buried alive.

I don't remember why I was buried alive in my dream, or even how it was a fear that crossed my 6 year old mind. However, I do remember (somehow, you know how dreams can be) being able to see all of my family & friends get on a train and leave me there, buried in the ground, still alive, knowing they'd never return.

Up first is Buried Alive, a deep raisin base dusted with both small brown holo and micro metallic brown glitters. It rests in that beautiful purple/brown area that's truly one of my favorites. A smoothing top coat isn't necessary with this formula, though some may prefer that extra layer of cushion.

*READ FOR SOME UPDATES*

Hey y'all! First and foremost, THANK YOU!! Y'all absolutely showed up for my Birthday/Indieversary Sale (and even after it ended), surpassing anything I had envisioned. Your response was overwhelming in the best possible way, but also, please bear with me me as I know for some of you my typical 1-2 week TAT is fast approaching. Switching to new packaging standards has definitely slowed my typical shipping speed, however, with time and experience using the new boxes/packing, shipping should lean closer to the shorter end of the listed TAT. Thank you so much for your patience!

On a connected note, I did have Aug. 1 listed as the release of a Gastroparesis Awareness polish, but that is slightly postponed to roughly mid-August, as it is on it's way to swatchers. 🫣

We need to laugh, enjoy the simple things, and recharge so we can keep fighting to create the world we want for not just ourselves but for future generations.

Whimsy & Rage is a super sparkly black holo glitter bomb, with fiery red/copper/gold multichrome flakies, all in a clear base. While it could be worn as a topper, my personal preference is to build it up and let her shine and shift in all her sparkly glory ✨️🔥

FFL will be donating $2 from every bottle of Whimsy & Rage sold to League of Women Voters of the US who "engage in advocacy, education, litigation, and organizing to protect every American’s freedom to vote."
