With Medicare Open enrollment just around the corner (October 15-December 7), we want to make an announcement a common insurance carrier:

We will not be contracting with Aetna Part D plans in 2027.

This decision was made due to the abhorrent reimbursements that we receive from Aetna. Through 8 months of 2026, our average profit per script is 49 cents from this insurer.

For context, it costs us about 90 cents on average to process a prescription, print a label, and use a bottle and lid. The national average for cost of dispensing is $12.40 (ours last year was $11.73). We simply cannot continue to do business with a company that expects us to provide a service at a loss.

We are sorry that it has come to this, but enough is enough. If anybody has questions feel free to ask. We will still be offering free plan estimates for 2027 plans as we did last year.

We’re excited to have Max Acheampong from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy as a student pharmacist for his summer internship. Max is from Ankeny, Iowa and just finished his first year of pharmacy school. He likes basketball and fishing. Please welcome Max to our community for the next 3 weeks.
