And of course the Grace of God 🙌🏻

Here’s the thing
no one tells you
until your mascara's half-cried off
and you’re knee-deep
in peanut butter cups
wondering if anyone
has ever actually survived
being human:

You don’t heal
by pretending it didn’t happen.
You don’t grow
by faking serenity.
You certainly don’t evolve
by out-optimisming
the dumpster fire.

No, love pie.
You get better by sitting down
next to the thing
you swore you’d never touch
the grief
the shame
the blistered ache you carry
from being alive and awake
in this world
with a soft heart
and armor made of empathy.

You scooch over
on the picnic bench
or the bar stool
and let the worst parts of you
sit down.

You offer them a cup of tea.
You don’t fix them.
You don’t sage them.
You just say:
“Well hell, I guess we’re in this together.”

And somehow,
by the grace of mismatched socks
and second chances,
the ache starts to breathe.
The jagged bits
don’t jab so hard.
You remember
you’ve always been a little holy
and a lot stubborn,
a little feral
and sometimes kind
and maybe that’s enough.

Radical acceptance isn’t sexy.
It’s not an Instagram filter.
It’s more like hugging a porcupine
because it’s lonely
and so are you.

But it’s the doorway.
It’s the cracked-open window
where Love sneaks in
with a bag of tacos
and says,“Let’s start here.”

This page is my tribe's Red Tent Blanket Fort, and I write to find all the misfits and weirdos who belong in here with me. We have snacks. Spread the word! More about the fort: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1393715445036560&set=pb.100031943546696.-2207520000&type=3

Times are dicey out there, friends, and free speech has gotten quite expensive. Please stay in touch with me by joining my mailing list here https://angisullins.com/get-your-muse-letter-2/. It’s the way I can reach you to tell you about public appearances, live readings, and any chance we have to get together as a tribe in person. It’s the best way to keep our independence in tact and the power to communicate alive, protected from being silenced.

People sometimes apologize for their bodies when they get on my massage table.

I’m too big
I’m too thin
I’m too bony
I’ve gained weight
I’m getting old
I’m sorry about my scars.

And I always wish I could somehow let them see themselves the way I do.
Because the truth is, I don’t really see your body with my eyes. I experience it through my hands and my heart and what I feel isn’t something to judge. Not one bit.

Sometimes, especially when I’m working on someone’s hands, I’ll feel the tension, the arthritis in their joints, an old scar, the stiffness that comes with age and I’ll find myself wondering about the immense life that body has lived.
Those hands have held others
They’ve worked
They’ve created
They’ve cared for others
They’ve wiped tears
They’ve probably clinched in frustration or folded in prayer
They’ve held on
And they’ve let go

That body has hurt and healed more times than you could probably ever count and I think that’s beautiful.

This thought passes through me a lot while massaging and brings a smile to me. I imagine the day we finally stand before our Creator and instead of seeing a body that became old, wrinkled, scarred or worn,
I imagine Him looking at us with so much love and saying 🤩 “Look at you!” You used it
You loved with it
You worked with it
You hurt in it
You healed in it
You carried people with it
You laughed in it
You cried in it
You prayed in it
You got back up in it

You didn’t spend your whole life trying to preserve it or hold it at youthful perfection. You lived in it. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Our bodies were never meant to make it through this life untouched. Maybe the wrinkles, scars, tired joints and weathered hands aren’t things we need to be ashamed of. Maybe they’re simply evidence that we showed up for our lives.

So thank your body every once in a while.

For getting you out of bed
For carrying you where you needed to go.
For holding the people you love
For healing wounds you barely remember
For continuing to breathe and beat and carry you through another day. 🥹

What an incredible, faithful companion it has been.

Look how far it has carried you. ❤️

Okay local friends and community , I’m looking for someone and I’m not even totally sure what you would call this person 😂

I have an idea for my massage studio that I’d love see come to life. I’m wanting about a 3-4 hour continuous soundscape, mostly cello-based, with really subtle nature sounds mixed in like crickets, nighttime sounds, birds, water, etc. I’d also love to incorporate some frequency work into it.

Basically I want something really deep, calming and earthy that just plays continuously and makes you want to melt into the table. 🌿🎻

Is this a sound engineer? Music producer? Composer? I have no idea. 😂 But before I start looking elsewhere, I wanted to see if we have anyone local who does something like this or knows someone who does! If so, I’d love to collaborate with you. Thanks ☺️
