Texas A&M University has been named a 2026 Fast Company World Changing Ideas honoree, earning national recognition for an innovation that comes from right here in the Rangel College of Pharmacy!

The award is for an innovative regenerative heart patch, developed by pharmaceutical sciences researcher, Dr. Ke Huang. This patch may offer a way to help the heart heal after a heart attack. It uses a unique microneedle system to deliver a therapeutic molecule directly to damaged heart tissue, promoting repair and improving heart function without affecting the rest of the body. The award, presented in the Academic Excellence category, places Texas A&M among the top 100 projects globally that are tackling the world’s most urgent challenges with creative solutions.

The heart patch is engineered to support healing directly at the site of injury — helping restore strength, improve function and accelerate recovery for patients.

Dr. Sunil Venkategowda, pictured here with mentor Dr. Mahua Choudhury, was selected for a short talk on “Environmentally Relevant Phthalate Mixture Exposure Promotes Obesity and Metabolic Dysfunction in a Diet and Sex-Specific Manner” and won the first place in the symposium podium presentation at the 31st annual graduate student organization research symposium.

We are so excited to welcome 12 new students into our PhD program! This is our largest incoming cohort to date, and they now join our other graduate students in both Kingsville and College Station.

The incoming students attended the New Graduate Student Orientation (NGSO) at the Memorial Student Center (MSC) in College Station, then visited our Reynolds building for an Ice Cream Meet and Greet Social to meet current students, staff, and faculty.

We would like to invite you to join your fellow Aggies on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 10:30 p.m. to stand in remembrance of the late Caden Crow at Silver Taps Ceremony.

This event happens in College Station, and we encourage those in the area to set aside time in your evening to prioritize attending the Ceremony. Bring your friends, roommates, peers, and all others who are willing to stand in remembrance of the honorees and in support of their families.

Caden was a member of the Class of 2029 at the Rangel College of Pharmacy. He was a devoted student, aspiring pharmacist, and driven individual, who passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of determination, curiosity, and compassion. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp mind, and ability to bring both focus and humor into every room he entered.
