Tuesday our individuals split into smaller groups and spent some time out in the community! One group went to Pantry for Adair County PAC, while another group went grocery shopping.

Getting out into the community gives individuals the chance to work on skills they can use in their everyday lives. Grocery shopping gives them opportunities to make choices, find items, compare prices, work on budgeting, communicate with others, and become more comfortable navigating stores. Spending time at PAC gives individuals the opportunity to help others, follow directions, work as a team, and learn more about resources available in their community.

Going out in smaller groups also gives everyone more opportunities to participate and work on their independence while still having staff there for support when needed. Everyday activities like these help build confidence, independence, social skills, and a stronger connection to the community.

It was a great Tuesday getting out, learning, and being involved in our community! 💜

We had a great afternoon getting out in the community today! We stopped by Kafe Kingdom for drinks and enjoyed some time together before heading over to Countryside Store to walk around and explore.

It was a simple outing, but a great opportunity for our individuals to socialize, spend time with their peers, and practice being involved in the community. Of course, we had to stop and get a few pictures in the giant chair while we were out! 😄

Another good day at Northern Lights! 💜

We had a great day at the pool today! Our individuals had a lot of fun swimming, relaxing, and spending time together. It was great to see everyone talking, encouraging each other, and making new memories.

Outings like this give individuals the chance to build friendships, practice social skills, and gain confidence while being active in the community. Days like today are a great reminder of how important those opportunities are.

Here are a few pictures from today’s trip. We hope you enjoy them!

This past Saturday, our individuals enjoyed a fun day trip to Columbia! We started the day with lunch at MOD Pizza, where everyone had the opportunity to choose and enjoy their own meal. After lunch, we stopped by Andy’s Frozen Custard for a sweet treat before spending the afternoon walking around the Columbia Mall.

These community outings provide opportunities to build social skills, practice making choices, increase independence, and enjoy time together in the community. It was a great day filled with smiles, conversations, and new memories. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
