The regulatory landscape surrounding peptides continues to evolve, with recent discussions about potential changes to FDA compounding policies.

As a pharmacist and lifelong equestrian, I’m especially interested in what these developments could eventually mean for veterinary medicine and equine health.

Peptides such as BPC-157 and TB-500 continue to generate research interest, particularly in tissue repair and recovery. While equine-specific clinical evidence remains limited, this is an area worth following closely.

🐴 BPC-157: What does the research actually show?

Interest in BPC-157 is growing in the veterinary and equine communities, particularly around musculoskeletal recovery and tissue-healing research.

The published evidence is still preclinical. Animal studies—primarily in rodents—have explored BPC-157 in tendon, ligament, muscle, wound-healing, gastrointestinal, and other models. Tendon-related research is one of the better-corroborated areas, although the evidence still does not establish clinical efficacy in horses or dogs.

Importantly, there are currently no published peer-reviewed equine efficacy, pharmacokinetic, safety, or dosing studies for BPC-157. In dogs, published primary research includes pharmacokinetic data, but not controlled clinical efficacy trials.
