Data shows that 77 percent of adults 50 and older want to age at home.

Aging in place takes planning, coordination and cooperation.

Having these conversations can be difficult, but they must happen.

Start with a simple question like,

“Where would you like to be in the next 10, 20, 30 years?

“What would be your ideal living situation in (insert number) years?”

You can even include yourself in the discussion…

“How do you imagine we (family) will be involved down the road?”

If they don’t want you personally to be involved in care maybe try a question like…

“What type of person would help the most? Someone quiet or talkative?”

Having care sudden thrust upon you can be very disorienting, I know from my own personal experience, but I get how difficult these conversations can be so tread lightly by tiptoeing around the topic at first💜
