Therapy is hard.

Hard for the child. Hard for the parents watching.
And hard for the therapists.

When we first met this sweet boy, movement felt scary. Through an OT intensive focused on sensory processing and Vaughn Bodywork, he learned to better feel his body, feel movements, and trust us.

Then came more hard work.

With a room full of family and therapists cheering him on, he went from being scared to sit on a ball, while wrapped in deep pressure and calming vibration… to laughing while floating through the air.

And that confidence? Immediately translated into 15 seconds of independent sitting.

Therapy is hard.
But it’s worth it. 💙

P.S. We don’t let kids cry just to cry, but we do let them get frustrated while we support them through the hard things. They get breaks and mom snuggles, music and toys. Kids learn best when they aren’t crying… but being frustrated while doing hard things is okay. We always listen to the parents since they know their child’s communication and cues way better than we do.. they know when they’re mad… they’re needing a break… or they’re faking us out. 😉

Therapy intensives are always a treat. We NEVER know what skill one may gain in their 1, 2, or 3 week intensive.

Did mom specifically say, “I want him to go to his sister’s hockey games and not lose his mind” or “he needs to do PT/OT so he can eat by mouth?” Nope… absolutely not 😆

But here we are! Not knowing what we’re going to get at the end of the intensive may just be my favorite part. We are always amazed by these kiddos, by their families, and by their support teams. 💙💚

We’re not entirely sure how summer is moving this fast, but here we are! Between dance recitals, pool days, vacations, and chasing little feet around the yard, June has definitely been keeping everyone busy.

We’re still taking a break from our regular playgroups for the summer months. We miss seeing all of your smiling faces, but we also love encouraging families to soak up these sunny days, explore outside, and enjoy a slower summer rhythm.

Our monthly support group will continue meeting at the office throughout the summer. Whether you’re considering a release, recently had one, or are navigating the next steps in your feeding journey, this supportive village of parents and providers is here for you.

And while playgroups are on pause… we’re dreaming up some fun things for the future! Is there a class you’ve wished existed? A topic you’d like to learn more about? A workshop you’d sign up for tomorrow?

Drop your ideas below or send us a message—we’re always looking for ways to support our amazing MTW families.

Until then, enjoy the sunshine, make some memories, and we’ll see you at Tongue Tie Support Group! ☀️💛

And in most cases, you do NOT need a doctor referral either. 👏

If you’re noticing:
• delayed milestones
• feeding concerns
• toe walking
• coordination issues
• sensory challenges
• head shape/torticollis
• difficulty regulating emotions or body
• handwriting and grip strength issues
• or literally anything else

…it is okay to reach out.

You do not have to “wait and see.”
You do not have to feel unheard.

Early support can make a huge difference. Parents are usually the first to notice when something feels off.

Knoxville pediatric physical and occupational therapists are ready for you. Find a specialist in the areas of your concern. 🤍

Do you ever see something and think, “there’s no way they said that about me…”

It’s sometimes hard to see exactly what type of impact we’re making on families and their little one when we’re beating ourselves over on taking the best classes and making the best decisions and saying the right things to everyone all the time.

Then a review comes in like this.

Truly, sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts: thank you for trusting us. We know it’s hard juggling therapy visits alongside body work and lactation and check ups and feeds and nap schedules. We know it can be a difficult financial decision. We know it’s a lot to go through a tongue tie/body tension/feeding journey (because we’ve been there).

So let me say again, thank you for trusting us with your littlest of loves. 👶🏼🫶

Playgrounds can tell us a lot about how children move through and interact with their world🌍

Some children naturally seek out climbing, swinging, and jumping, while others may hesitate, avoid certain equipment, or become frustrated more quickly. Every child develops differently, but these moments can offer important insight into strength, coordination, confidence, sensory processing, and motor planning skills.

The good news? Play is one of the best ways to support development in a fun, low-pressure, and meaningful way ☀️

What’s your child’s favorite playground activity right now? 👇

Kids don’t learn in pieces—they learn as a whole. That’s why we combine PT + OT in intensive sessions.

By working on reflexes, sensory systems, and movement together, we help kids meet the milestones that matter: reaching out and grabbing a toy, sitting at the table with the family, walking down church stairs safely...

We work side by side so the brain can rewire faster, turning maximum effort into lasting progress.

Our intensives are full through June- two July spots are open!
