Sterile vs. Nonsterile compounding — it’s not just semantics, it’s safety.

Nonsterile compounding creates oral, topical, or suppository medications in clean but not completely microbe-free environments.

Sterile compounding requires a cleanroom, HEPA filtration, and aseptic technique. It includes injections, eye drops, and anything that bypasses your body’s natural defenses.
