Functional Fundamental #1: Get Clear on Expectations

Great work starts with clarity. When expectations are understood from the beginning, teams can communicate more effectively, stay aligned and deliver the level of care and service our patients, residents and partners deserve.
Thank you to the Redstone Village Therapy Team for helping us bring Fundamental #1 to life and showing what it means to Get Clear on Expectations every day!

At Functional Pathways, lifelong learning isn't just something we say - it's one of our fundamentals. It shows up in how our people grow, and this month, two of our Business Intelligence team members proved exactly what that looks like in action.

Mike Loeb, Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, earned his Major Domo Certification - Domo's highest credential, requiring three separate exams spanning data architecture, governance, and platform administration. It's an elite achievement, and Mike reached it in just 1.5 years with our team.

Beth Colson, our Business Intelligence Coordinator, earned her Domo Professional Certification and working on her second certification - the first step on that same path. Beth has been with Functional Pathways for almost 3 years, and just this year stepped into a full-time role on our Engineering team. Six months in, she's already leading the coordination behind some of our most important initiatives.

Certifications are great. But what really matters is what our people do with what they learn. Mike and Beth were both instrumental in architecting our DOR Dash and Ops Levers projects - tools that give our clients and operators clearer, faster insight into the data that drives better decisions.

That's what lifelong learning looks like at Functional Pathways: not credentials for their own sake, but people who keep growing so the communities and clients we serve get better tools, better insight, and better outcomes.

Congratulations, Mike and Beth!

There’s a new little member of the Functional Pathways family to celebrate!

Please join us in congratulating our President & CEO, Dan Knorr, and Executive Vice President, Angel Knorr, on the birth of their grandson, Daniel “Danny” Theodore Redd, born August 1.

We especially love these sweet photos of Danny with his namesake, Pop Pop, and his very proud Gigi. It’s safe to say they are already completely smitten!

Welcome to the world, Danny, and congratulations to Dan and Angel on this beautiful new chapter.

We are excited to announce that Functional Pathways has been ranked number 3114 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list (https://hubs.li/Q04szXh70), the annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The list is the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s most successful independent and entrepreneurial

Growth was never our primary objective. We began with a vision to stand beside our clients as a trusted partner, to create a workplace that is a destination for passionate, purpose-driven professionals, and to transform our patients' lives through exceptional therapy experiences. By staying focused on those goals, growth was the natural outcome. As a result, we can now bring our proven model— ‘The FP Way’—to help more patients and residents live functional and fulfilling lives.

We want to take this opportunity to thank our partners and our employees for your contributions to this recognition. We also congratulate the other innovative and growth-oriented organizations that made this year's list.

When was the last time you truly challenged your brain?

In senior living, we often prioritize physical health, but cognitive health deserves the same intentional care. Research continues to show that a proactive, multidimensional approach can help older adults maintain independence, confidence, and quality of life over time.

In our latest wellness blog, Brittany Austin explores how the brain changes with age, why brain health involves more than puzzles and word games, and how stress management, quality sleep, social connection, and lifelong learning all contribute to cognitive resilience.

For leaders in skilled nursing, assisted living, and life plan communities, this evidence informed perspective offers valuable insight into supporting cognitive wellness across resident populations.

Functional Fundamental #13: Show Gratitude and Appreciation

In this Functional Fundamental, Lina Amari, Chief People and Culture Officer, highlights the importance of recognizing the people who make exceptional care possible.

At Functional Pathways, we believe gratitude and appreciation help strengthen trust, encourage engagement, and foster a culture where caregivers, partners, and senior living communities can thrive.

We are grateful for the therapists, nursing partners, and facility leaders whose dedication supports stronger relationships, compassionate care, and better outcomes every day.
