UNDERLYING PIGMENT = EXPECTATION MANAGEMENT 🎯

This is your reminder that when you lift artificial color… you don’t get to choose what’s underneath. The hair does.

Every level has a NATURAL underlying pigment that will be exposed when lightening:

And if we don’t talk about that BEFORE we start… we’re setting everyone up for disappointment.

I was assisting another stylist on this guest, and she did something that I wish every stylist prioritized:
✔️ She clearly explained what warmth would be revealed
✔️ She set realistic expectations (not “icy blonde” today)
✔️ She made sure the guest was fully on board BEFORE we started

Because of that… the result was not only beautiful, but the guest LOVED it.

This photo was taken after one shampoo + towel dry, and we used it to guide our gloss formulation. This step is EVERYTHING when you’re working through corrective color or heavy lifting.
