Summer snacks can come with some sneaky choking risks for young children. Choking risk is often related to the size, shape, and texture of a food rather than whether a food itself is "good" or "bad." Round, firm, and compressible foods can more easily block a small airway.

Foods I modify before handing to little ones:
• Grapes → quartered lengthwise
• Blueberries → smashed or cut for younger eaters
• Hot dogs → sliced lengthwise and into smaller pieces
• Cherry tomatoes → quartered
• Raw apples → thin slices or softened

As a CPNP and AHA CPR-certified provider, I know that scary moments can happen quickly, and preparation matters. I would love to help you feel more confident and equipped if an emergency ever happens.

Comment "SUMMER" and I’ll send you a link to book a CPR session. ☀️🍉

Potty training is a developmental process, not a deadline. Readiness, consistency, and patience matter far more than rushing or comparison. You are not behind, and your child is not failing—you’re both learning together, and that’s exactly how it’s meant to unfold.

Whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or somewhere in the thick of early motherhood, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I offer both virtual and in-person support in the Knoxville area to help you feel more confident, prepared, and supported through every stage.

I can help with:

• Prenatal education and preparation for birth and baby
• Postpartum support for recovery, newborn care, and adjustment
• Breastfeeding support as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)
• Sleep and early childhood guidance rooted in development
• CPR education so you feel prepared for emergency situations

My approach is evidence-based, practical, and centered around real-life families—not one-size-fits-all advice.

If you’re in Knoxville or prefer virtual support, I’d love to walk alongside you in this season 💛

Breastfeeding in hot weather often comes with a lot of questions ☀️🤱

Here are some evidence-based reminders for summer:

Breast milk is naturally designed to meet your baby’s needs and adapts over time to provide both hydration and nutrition. For most healthy, full-term infants under 6 months, current recommendations support exclusive breastfeeding without the need for additional water.

In warmer weather, you may notice:
• More frequent feeding cues (this is normal and often related to thirst and comfort)
• Shorter, more frequent feeds
• Increased cluster feeding at times

Hydration signs to watch for in your baby:
• Regular wet diapers
• Moist mouth and normal saliva
• Alertness and usual activity level

And don’t forget—you matter too. Breastfeeding parents also need consistent hydration, especially in the heat.

FAQs I often get:
“Do I need to give my baby water in the summer?” → Typically no for babies under 6 months unless directed by a provider
“Is it normal for my baby to feed more often?” → Yes, especially in heat or during growth spurts
“Is my milk enough in hot weather?” → For most infants, yes—your milk continues to meet their needs

If you’re navigating breastfeeding this summer and have questions, you don’t have to figure it out alone. 💛

When your baby will only sleep on you, it can feel exhausting, isolating, and overstimulating — especially when social media makes it seem like every other baby is sleeping independently through the night.

But biologically, newborns are designed to seek closeness. Contact sleep supports feeding, regulation, and connection in early infancy. Wanting to be near you is not a sign that you’re doing something wrong. 🤍

At the same time, your well-being matters too. Families deserve support that balances infant needs with realistic, sustainable rhythms for the entire household.

Don’t compare. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we can create gentle, evidence-based sleep support strategies that work for your baby and your family.

Sounds simple… until you’re awake at 2:13am bouncing a baby who refuses to transfer to the bassinet. 🤍

The truth is, infant sleep is developmental. Babies are not born knowing how to fall asleep independently, connect sleep cycles, or follow adult sleep expectations. These are skills that develop over time with support, consistency, and maturation.

That also means sleep is not all-or-nothing. Families do not have to choose between “cry it out” or complete exhaustion. Evidence-based sleep support can help create healthy sleep foundations while still responding to your baby’s needs.

Better sleep is not about perfection. It is about finding realistic rhythms that support your baby’s development and your family’s well-being.

If sleep has been feeling overwhelming lately, let’s talk. Book a call with me to create a plan that feels sustainable for the whole family 🤍

The amount of times new moms finally get the baby asleep… only to stare at them, scroll photos of them, or panic Google something instead of sleeping themselves 😅🤍

Postpartum exhaustion is real, and rest is not always as simple as “sleep when the baby sleeps.” If this season feels tiring, emotional, or overstimulating, you are far from alone.

Support can make these early weeks feel more manageable — for both mom and baby.

Potty training can quickly go from “we’ve got this” to “why is everyone crying in the bathroom?” 🫠

If your child is resisting the potty, withholding p**p, having frequent accidents, or becoming anxious around toileting, you are not alone — and your child is not “being difficult.” Potty learning is developmental, emotional, and often far more nuanced than social media makes it seem.

Many families are told to push harder, take away diapers, or “just stay consistent,” but for some children, pressure can actually increase resistance and stress around toileting.

That’s where individualized, evidence-based support matters. Together, we can identify what’s actually getting in the way and create a realistic plan that supports your child and preserves your sanity. 🤍

If you’re ready to stop battling the bathroom and finally tackle potty training with support, book your consultation today. You do not have to figure this out alone.
