Sometimes I look around and wonder if anything is really happening. If I’m on the right path, making the right choices, becoming who I’m meant to be. I question whether it’s all worth it and whether I truly have what it takes.

Then I stop and take inventory of everything that brought me here. Every obstacle. Every hard season that tried to break me. And I think… how did I make it through all of that?

The answer is simple: I did.

Sometimes we need to pause, reflect, and remember exactly who the f🐰ck we are — and everything we’ve already survived.

Yesterday, I was sitting at the dining room table thinking about something I’ve wanted since I was a little girl: to live to 105.

Not just to exist — but to still have my mind, my mobility, my wisdom, and the ability to share it with others. I’ve always believed elders carry something priceless: knowledge, perspective, and life experience. I want to become that woman one day.

Then I started doing the math.
At 105, my children will be in their late 70s and 80s. My grandchildren will be in their 60s. Mind-blowing to even think about.

And it made me ask myself:
What do I need to do now to give myself the best chance at getting there healthy?

The answer keeps bringing me back to the basics:
• Hydrate my body with water
• Move my body daily
• Prioritize sleep and recovery
• Nourish myself with whole, nutrient-dense foods
• Focus on protein, fruits, vegetables, vitamins, and minerals
• Reduce processed foods and things made in a factory

Longevity isn’t built through extremes.
It’s built through the daily foundational habits we choose over and over again.

Every choice I make today is shaping the woman I hope to be at 105.

What I did to start my wellness journey was simple.

First, I hired a coach.
Second, I got a workout plan.
That’s where my consistency began.

Nutrition was always the hardest part for me. Food had been my emotional support for years, so I knew trying to change everything at once would set me up to fail.

So instead of focusing on everything, I focused on what I knew I could do.

I committed to my workouts 5 days a week.
Then I started becoming aware of my eating habits.

First, I focused on portion sizes.
Then I started measuring my food.
After that, I became more mindful of the types of foods I was eating and slowly worked toward a more balanced diet.

I didn’t completely cut out processed foods or sweets overnight because I wasn’t mentally prepared for that yet. Instead, I focused on reducing how much I consumed until, over time, healthier choices became easier.

Walking also became part of my daily routine. Some days I hit 10,000 steps. Some days I walked 30 minutes. Sometimes I did both. And sometimes I did neither.

But I never allowed one off day to define me.

I never viewed myself as failing or “not doing enough.” Every small step forward was still more than where I started.

That’s what sustainable change looked like for me — not perfection, just consistency, awareness, and learning how to keep going.

If you’re starting your own journey, maybe you don’t need to change everything at once. Maybe you just need to start with one thing youknow you can commit to.
