MEET ROY & JOYCE - Participants
For Roy and Joyce, everything begins and ends with their relationship.
Roy and Joyce spent years building a life together, through long workdays, changing seasons, and the everyday moments that quietly shape a marriage. Roy worked as a truck driver and warehouse worker, always on the move, while Joyce built her career as a county clerk and bookkeeper, finding joy in the details and structure of her work. Their jobs were different, but their lives were always connected, two paths running side by side.
And in many ways, not much has changed.
They still enjoy the same simple pleasures together like watching Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and Shark Tank, or thinking back on the places they’ve traveled. Ask them what a perfect day looks like, and they’ll give you the same answer: a warm summer day, nice weather, and time spent together.
That sense of togetherness is what led them to Kinship PACE.
Roy will tell you, with a smile, that he’s there because of Joyce. And Joyce will tell you she came for the therapy and care that has made a real difference in her life. What they found, though, was more than support. They found a community.
“The staff is really good to me and very easy to get along with,” Roy says. Joyce agrees, adding that they’re not only kind, but fun to talk to. It’s the kind of environment where conversations come easily and connections grow naturally.
Therapy, especially, has played a meaningful role in that. For Joyce, it means being able to walk more than she could before and regaining strength, confidence, and independence. It’s the kind of progress that doesn’t just change a moment, it adds to the days, months, and years ahead. It creates more opportunities to go out to eat, to shop, to travel, and to simply enjoy life together.
When you ask Roy and Joyce what they’re looking forward to, their answers sound a lot like their past just with new energy behind it. More outings. More trips. More shared experiences.
Their advice to younger generations reflects what they’ve learned along the way. Roy encourages people to stay active and travel while they can, understanding how quickly time moves. Joyce keeps it simple: enjoy every day, because life goes fast.
And the thread that runs through it all is a life built on relationships, sustained by care, strengthened by support.
At the end of the day, what brings Roy the most happiness is spending time with his wife, and what brings Joyce happiness is being able to move more freely, to keep up with the life they’ve built together.
At Kinship PACE, care isn’t just about adding years to life, it’s about adding life to those years with people you love.
Kinship PACE provides the “Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly” (PACE), a Medicare and Medicaid-approved program designed to support adults age 55+ with comprehensive medical care and personalized services.
Our goal is simple: to help older adults remain living safely and independently in their homes and communities.
