A pedestrian was struck by a car. Three weeks later: shoulder pain, arm heaviness, and weakness running down the arm. 🤔

Neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (nTOS) is rare and hard to diagnose. Patients often go through many tests and treatments before they ever reach physical therapy, which can delay their recovery.

This case report follows a 57-year-old patient whose treatment started with conservative physical therapy. Her care combined manual therapy to the soft tissue of the thoracic outlet with treatment of the thoracic joints. She improved in:
🔹 Pain
🔹 Arm heaviness and upper extremity symptoms
🔹 Activities of daily living

The authors' takeaway: PT should be considered an initial intervention for nTOS.
