At Inspiration Autism Services, LLC, we often hear the question, "What exactly is ABA therapy?"
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically proven approach that helps children learn new skills, strengthen positive behaviors, and reduce behaviors that may interfere with learning and daily life. ABA is individualized, meaning every program is designed around the unique strengths, needs, and goals of each child.
ABA focuses on understanding how behavior works, how children learn, and how the environment influences behavior. By using positive reinforcement and evidence-based teaching strategies, therapists help children develop skills that can improve their quality of life and increase independence.
π Skills ABA Can Help Develop:
π£οΈ Communication Skills
Helping children express their wants, needs, feelings, and ideas through verbal language, sign language, AAC devices, or other communication methods.
π« Social Skills
Teaching children how to interact with peers, share, take turns, make friends, understand social cues, and participate in group activities.
π Daily Living Skills
Building independence with everyday tasks such as dressing, brushing teeth, toileting, following routines, cleaning up, and personal hygiene.
π Learning & Academic Readiness
Improving attention, following directions, completing tasks, and developing skills that support success in school and learning environments.
π Emotional Regulation
Helping children identify emotions, cope with frustration, manage anxiety, and learn appropriate ways to respond to challenging situations.
