Yesterday was a day we’ll remember for a long time.

We had the honor of welcoming Lucina, Deputy Executive Director of San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center, and Yvette, Resource Developer, to our campus.

We showed them what makes The Roland Center and SGVRF feel like home. They toured our Adult Day Center and our specialized home for seniors, then spent time in our Therapeutic Gardens, Memory Café and Multi-Sensory Room.

But this visit was about more than a tour.

For the better part of 2026, our two organizations have been working hard behind the scenes on something important: increasing the level of care for the individuals who live at SGVRF.

For residents and their families, that means:

More staff, with higher staff-to-resident ratios
More staffing hours, so support is there when it’s needed
More specialized expertise from outside consultants
More resources to support health and quality of life

Every person who lives with us deserves the very best care available. Under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Buckley, and with the dedication and belief of our partners at San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center, that’s what we have delivered. And it’s what we’ll keep delivering.

To Lucina, Yvette and the whole SG/PRC team: thank you for being a trusted partner on this journey. We can’t wait to see what we build together next.

A HUGE congratulations to Zenas! Zenas was recently hired by ‘Special Needz Coffee’ to join their team of baristas, out on the road spreading joy and awareness - one cup at a time!

Zenas has been working with our Employment & Career Services team on resume development and interview prep (both of which Zenas nailed) and was told the good news last week, while our friends were visiting our campus in their wonderful, bright red truck.

This is what happens when an individual’s talent and dedication meets opportunity. Zenas earnt every bit of this!

The Roland Center’s partnership with ‘Special Needz Coffee’ started with a simple invitation to come out to campus and provide our community with tasty beverages and a presentation about their business model. Fast forward a few months and now our organizations are working together in an official capacity as employment partners.

Our job is to nurture and guide talent while knocking down doors and opening up opportunities. Something we take seriously at The Roland Center.

Koji's story is in print. 💙

HELEN: The Journal of Human Exceptionality featured The Last Stamp, our short documentary about Koji, in this month's issue as part of Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

For those who don't know it, HELEN is the official publication of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine & Dentistry and People Advocating for Optimal Health. It reaches doctors, dentists, caregivers and advocates across the country.

Which means Koji's journey is now being read by the very people who shape care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

A special thank you to our friends and partners Dr. Rick Rader and Dr. Steven Perlman, senior editors at HELEN, for making room for this story.

IT WAS ELECTRIFYING! ⚡️

A great time was had at our Caregiver and Family night last week.

Members of our sensational music program shared what they have been working on, with an audience of their peers and loved ones.

They lit that stage up! 🔥

We have such talented people in our TRC community. To every one of our GREASE performers, we are so proud of you!

These evenings happen once every 3 months. They provide an opportunity for families and caregivers to learn more about what we do, share insights and connect with one another and our staff.

Plus, there’s always 🍕!

Our next event will be held in December. Stay tuned!

2002 to today. That's how long Shannon has been with us. 💙

She walked in as a nervous, shy participant in our Work Activity Program. Since then, she's been worker of the month, become a powerful self-advocate, joined the TRC team, and grown into a community leader and all around mover and shaker.

Today, she's our Activities and Events Coordinator.

Shannon's story is a shining example of what's possible, and that's exactly why we committed to sharing her journey.

DSPs are the backbone of our mission. Without you, The Roland Center simply would not function.

To all of our wonderful DSPs, thank you! You all do so much and give so much of yourselves for the individuals we serve and it will never go unnoticed! We hope you have felt the love this week. You deserve it! ❤️

Last week, Rep. Gil Cisneros hosted a Town Hall right here in La Puente, and members of our Roland Center team were there.

We loved meeting the Congressman and talking about how we can work together to expand home and community-based care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our neighborhoods.
