Hospice is about QUALITY vs. QUANTITY of life.

I can have six months where I’m comfortable, able to talk with my family, laugh, love, and LIVE.

Or I can have two years undergoing aggressive treatments that leave me miserable—and still ultimately die.

More time does not always mean better time.

Hospice is about helping people decide what quality of life means to THEM.

💜 I will never take for granted the blessing God has given me over the last 20 years to serve families during the end-of-life season.

Both times, I didn’t want to do it. But God refused to take “no” for an answer. (2004–2019 & 2025–Present.)

God has a sense of humor, though. In this new season, our patients’ families aren’t just calling to thank us—they’re coming into the office in person. Every visit puts a smile on my weary heart.

Families showing up during some of my most difficult moments to encourage me will never get old.

Another week. Another Live testimony 🧡

A real one.

I’m always grateful to God for the opportunity to serve—and even more grateful to work alongside staff who truly care about patients and families during some of the most important moments of their lives.

I’ve been fortunate throughout my career to be surrounded by nurses who don’t just do the job… they live it.

Special shoutout to Nurse Sarah.

I told her recently, “You’re the angel of death.”

And no—that’s not a bad thing.

To me, it means someone who shows up in one of life’s most sacred moments and leaves a lasting impression on families forever.

Last week, a family came into the office, and we were literally joking—both of us saying Sarah would be our nurse when the time comes.

At one point, we even said, “What if we’re both going at the same time?”

We agreed—we’ll just be in the same room, and Sarah can go back and forth.

That’s the kind of trust. That’s the kind of impact.

We celebrate birthdays.
We celebrate milestones.
We celebrate beginnings.

But somehow, we forget…

Death is a milestone too.

And it deserves the same level of care, dignity, and humanity.

Thank you to our incredible team.

And thank you, Sarah—you’re already building a waiting list.

People often think hospice is about death.

I’ve learned that hospice is really about people.

Lately, life has felt heavy. Between the challenges of running a hospice, surviving, supporting families through unimaginable loss, and carrying the weight that comes with this work, it can sometimes be easy to lose sight of why we started.

Slide 2 video : Then yesterday, this family walked through our doors.

A few months ago, they entrusted us with the care of their wife, mother, and best friend during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.

What touched me most was that months later, they still remembered Sarah by name and wanted to thank her personally for the compassion, calm presence, and support she provided along the way.

Think about that for a moment.

Not the medications.
Not the paperwork.
Not the equipment.

They remembered the person.

Moments like this remind me that hospice is not a job. It is a calling.

And sometimes, just when life feels overwhelming, God sends people through the door to remind us that the work matters.

The goal is never just to help someone die well.

The goal is to help families live through it.
