A New Leg, A New Chapter for John
John H. received a prosthetic left leg at our facility, replacing the leg he had lost due to diabetes. John is one of our beloved Long Term Care Residents. He has resided with us since 2023. This important milestone was made possible through the dedication, teamwork, and compassion of several Genesis employees.
From nursing care and physical therapy to providing the appropriate location and equipment, Genesis staff worked together to make sure John had everything he needed for a successful prosthetic fitting and delivery. The team also coordinated closely with Chris Aiken, a representative from Hanger Clinic, who conducted the fittings and worked to fabricate and deliver John’s new prosthetic leg.
Nurse Supervisor Jason C. went above and beyond by arranging video calls during the fitting process, allowing John’s family to be part of the experience from afar. These calls gave family members the opportunity to watch the process and share pictures with loved ones across Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland.
John’s extended family is incredibly happy for him and deeply appreciative of everyone who played a part in making this moment possible.
Ritza Ramirez-Gullo, Administrator, worked several months as we discussed the possibility of John receiving a prosthetic leg. You supported the idea and took the necessary steps to begin the process. Your leadership was instrumental in turning that conversation into reality.
On behalf of John and his family, thank you to Ritza and all of the Genesis employees who contributed their time, expertise, and compassion to making this important milestone a success. Your teamwork made a meaningful difference in John’s life and created a moment his entire family will remember.
