A little late with Avery's annual update, but here we are. May 30th we went for her annual x-rays and checkup at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio. We were hopeful that her femur had grown enough to start the lengthening discussion, it has to be at least 19cm for the internal lengthening procedure, but unfortunately it only measured 15.67cm. So we are still just waiting for her to keep growing some more. We will go back for another checkup and x-ray in another year. π¦
In the meantime, she has started to grow out of her current foot-on-foot prosthesis so it's time for a new one with a few upgrades. Avery's lifelong prosthetist, Doug, passed away in November which was hard for everyone, including Avery π She gets sad when we mention him and didn't want to even entertain the idea of seeing someone else... she would just say "I don't want someone else I want Doug" π’ But today we had an appointment at ForMotion Clinic, the company that took over Doug's business, and it went well! Avery was comfortable and we liked the prosthetist we saw. So we're now in the process of getting her a "new leg" π I'll post again when she gets her new hardware π¦Ώπ©·
