Last weekend, our Enterprise Clinical Council gathered in Southlake, TX for its fall retreat.

The council brings together anesthesiologists and CRNAs from across health systems to set the clinical standards our teams practice by, so that a patient gets the same evidence-based anesthesia care whether they’re at a large health system or a rural ASC.

We covered a lot of ground, from GLP-1 pre-op guidance to medication-handling expectations under USP 797.

Nearly 80 years of anesthesia between our two retiring anesthesiologists 💙

This month we’re celebrating two retirements at Lafayette Surgicare: Dr. David Burgin and Dr. De Aun Sherwood.

Dr. Burgin has practiced anesthesiology since 1984 and was there the day Surgicare opened its doors in 2003.

Dr. Sherwood has practiced anesthesiology since 1989 and joined the Surgicare team in 2018. She may be stepping away from the OR, but her calendar is already filling up… that beautiful baby is her first grandchild, so there’s still plenty of work ahead 👶

Thank you both for the years of care you’ve given our patients and our team. We’ll miss you, and we’re cheering you on for this next chapter!
