August’s Creative Expressions class was extra special as we gathered in memory of our longtime client and friend, Michelle.

Michelle first came to Miles Perret Cancer Services in 2021 and quickly became a familiar face in many of the things she loved from Creative Expressions to Circuit Training and Line Dancing.

Healthy Living Coordinator, Sydney, hand painted pearl beads with an “M” and a lung cancer ribbon to create beautiful beaded garden stakes. Pearls were chosen as a special nod to Michelle’s birthstone, while the white ribbon represents the lung cancer she bravely faced.

More than 20 people gathered to create, laugh, and celebrate Michelle’s life, with her mom and aunt bringing cake and some of her favorite dishes to share. It was a beautiful way to honor her memory by doing the things she loved, surrounded by a community that loved her right back. We’ll always cherish the memories and joy Michelle brought to MPCS🤍

These incredible volunteers helped us prepare for Camellia Crossing by getting 6,000 wristbands labeled and ready for the event. Their dedication to philanthropy and service is inspiring, and we truly appreciate them choosing to volunteer their time with Miles Perret Cancer Services.

Everyone today knows an individual who has been impacted by cancer. It might be someone in your family, maybe a close friend, a co-worker, or a next-door neighbor. At Miles Perret Cancer Services, our mission is to serve families in Acadiana fighting, surviving, and living with cancer, with care and compassion. We can only achieve this through your support.

Planning is now underway for the 24th annual Camellia Crossing scheduled for November 25.
