Another amazing success story!!! Read below from Mark Senegal, father of one of our recent patients at the Regenerative Medicine Institute of Louisiana. Amazing story of recovery and unbelievable triumph! State Champion Halyn Senegal!!
"Halyn started experiencing pain in the hip area while competing in High School Track & Field during her freshman season. The pain became more intense and causing her to end her season prematurely. She was referred to a surgeon and have an MRI, to determine the extent of her injury. Halyn was diagnosed with a labral tear that would require surgery to repair. After getting the news, we decided to seek opinions from different physicians about options to surgery. After speaking with Dr. Thomas K. Bond and the team at TotalCare, they decided that Regenexx would be the safer way to let a young 14 year old athlete naturally recover from her injury.
In July of 2018, Halyn received prolotherapy injections and the Regenexx PL (platelet lysate) procedure in the hip area . She was given detailed instructions to follow a six month plan to fully recover and get back to competing in the sport she loves... track and field.
After following Dr. Bond's instructions, Halyn began the process of returning to the sport of Track and Field. During the first month of practicing, Halyn noticed that the pain in the hip area was greatly reduced.. about 90% better than prior to the procedures. She became a little nervous because her goal was to get back at 100%. Halyn continued to strengthen the hip area with Physical Therapy and patience. The following month after returning to action the big breakthrough happened and the pain was gone!
In 2019, Halyn competed at the highest level of High School Track and Field, winning the Louisiana 5A State Championship 800m with a new PR and faster overall time. Halyn continued competing over the summer of 2019 earning USATF All-American honors, All Louisiana First Team, and the Cagle Award for most outstanding female track athlete.
Dr. Bond and his team have been there every step of the journey and always followed up on Halyn's condition. Halyn is now one of the top female track and field athletes in the class of 2021 and will be competing in several national and international meets in 2020!"
