Well these little cuties sure were a hit at the wellness event yesterday…

So simple, refreshing, and light-the perfect summer appetizer or salad.

Here’s my version of a recipe…
🍉cube watermelon
🍉either skewer the cubes or put them in a bowl for a salad version
🍉make a dressing with zest and juice of 2 limes, a little olive oil (maybe 1/2 amount of juice-not typical ratio), teaspoon or so of honey, little salt and pepper
🍉sprinkle with good feta and chopped mint

I traveled with the skewers plain and spooned dressing on before serving. Easy dish to bring to a summer gathering!

Pair it with a protein and some grilled veggies for an easy summer gathering and focus on your friends, not a complicated meal.

Breathwork has been all the buzz lately. Have you heard of it?

Yes, you can learn ways to breath to help regulate your nervous system, to calm you, to help you sleep, to help you meditate, etc. There are so many benefits to connecting to your body through your breath.

But I’m referring to something more. Conscious Breathwork is a specialized breathing technique that allows for deep healing and restoration to occur.

I experienced a group session in early 2020 and then again in 2021 and both sessions were so powerful that I knew I wanted to become a facilitator to help others utilize this transformational self-healing tool.

Every session is different and on any given day breath offers us what is needed, what we are open to receiving, and what we are ready for. This extreme individuality makes breathwork hard to explain. It’s best to experience it for yourself.

A few things my breath has offered me in my sessions include
✨ powerful visions
✨ emotional processing
✨ release and healing of past traumas
✨ physical healing
✨ repair and connection to the health of my uterus and endometriosis
✨ intense feelings of love for friends and family
✨ release of long-standing anger
✨ increased feelings of forgiveness
✨ intense relaxation and deep feelings of calm

In April I attended my first training retreat and am currently facilitating in-person one-on-one sessions.

Hydration!!! One of the first, easiest and most important ways you can support your immune health is by drinking enough clean water for your body.

Look at all the things water helps to do in our bodies! So much of this supports immune health, especially by supporting healthy lymphatic fluid that flows freely throughout your body.

Today is all about the roles water plays in your body. Tomorrow is signs of dehydration and then the best ways to be properly hydrated (and yes, knowing how much you need to drink for your body!). There’s a little more to it than just “drink more water”! But hey, since you mentioned it, drink more water! 💦

Think about how much plain, sparkling or fruit infused water you drink each day. Juice doesn’t count, coffee does not count and caffeinated teas do not count!

Do you experience one or more of these common digestive issues on a regular basis? While these are common, they are not NORMAL. Years ago I fell victim to daily digestive distress and it became my normal. When I finally removed a food from my diet to which I was extremely sensitive, added a few digestive supplements, and consistently eat in a more relaxed state it is now a rarity for me to experience any of these symptoms.

Digestion is the process that breaks down food into molecules so small that we can then absorb all the nutrients from that food into our system. Understanding how the process works and how things can go wrong is essential to discovering the root cause of your digestive distress. While distress can certainly be caused by the food you eat, you may have a sensitivity or intolerance that you're not aware of, there are also many functional explanations as well.

Are you eating in a calm state or are you rushed and stressed?
Are you chewing your food thoroughly so your stomach doesn't have to work so hard?
Are you producing enough stomach acid to properly break down your proteins and not overburden your small intestines with large particles of food?
Are your pancreas and gallbladder able to produce and release the needed digestive enzymes to assist in the proper breakdown of food?

These are just a few snags that happen along the digestive route. Fascinating, right?

This may look like an ordinary salad but it’s actually some super fast food fuel.
Dandelion greens-bitter greens are amazing for your liver and all greens are beneficial fiber for your gut and you systemic pH. Dandelion greens are loaded with minerals and vitamins too. Have you tried them?? I’ve mixed them with some butter lettuce to balance the bitter.
Radishes-powerful little root veggies that contain a compound called arabiongalactans which the good bacteria in your gut LOVE to eat (the foods we eat to feed our gut bacteria are called prebiotics and help keep our good gut guys happy).
Fennel-another great prebiotic and a good source of vitamin C, a crucial antioxidant for immune health.
Olive oil-a healthy, good for my body fat that will help my body more easily use and absorb all the fat soluble vitamins in my greens.
The balance of carbs (my veggies), healthy fats and protein (chicken) will help my blood sugar stay stable and keep me satisfied until dinner.
Who knew all those goodies were lurking in this simple salad?!?
(And goat cheese for a little zing of flavor 😉)
