Retired… but apparently not very good at sitting still. 😂☕️
After 22 years in the Army, I officially earned the title Retired
For most of my adult life, the Army was a huge part of my identity. It gave me opportunities, challenged me, shaped the way I lead, and taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
But retirement didn't mean I was finished.
It meant I had the opportunity to ask myself:
What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like?
And apparently my answer was…
“I think I'll open a medical practice.”😂
So here I am learning an entirely new career alongside the one I already love.
Nurse practitioner ➡️ entrepreneur.
Employee ➡️ business owner.
Army officer ➡️ retired veteran.
And somehow still learning something new almost every single day.
Opening Valor Wellness has pushed me outside of my comfort zone in ways I never expected. I've had to learn about contracts, credentialing, insurance, billing, marketing, payroll, regulations, websites, social media…and approximately 1,000 other things that were definitely not covered in NP school. 😂
But I'm also getting to build something I truly believe in: a place where women can feel heard, ask questions, understand their bodies, and be active participants in their healthcare.
I spent 22 years serving in one chapter of my life.
Now I'm building the next one. 💛
Here's to retirement, reinvention, entrepreneurship and discovering that sometimes your second career can become one of your greatest adventures.
