How do you start your day—
When you have a to-do list
That seems neverending?
When your motivation wanes
As the tasks stack up?
How do you start your day—
When your zest for life
Is nowhere to be found?
When you're already burnt out
From the years leading up to now?
You're not alone! The weight of the world is burdensome. I've been struggling with it, too.
I woke up this morning—as I have the past several mornings—feeling like I'm walking through molasses.
In my phone, there's a list of everything I need to do.
It's nearly noon and I haven't checked off a single box.
In the past, I would have sunk into depression over this.
Too many things to do, when I'm already burnt out before my day has even started ...
I would have crawled back into my bed and rotted,
Letting my life pass me by. But that's why I'm 33 years old and I don't have much to my name, besides a life chock full of experiences that give me~ wild stories to tell, a vast wealth of knowledge, a career I adore (& perhaps too many pets). Some people think I'm a disappointment ... but I no longer mind their judgments. They haven't lived my life.
They haven't felt frozen by task paralysis, limited by executive dysfunction, dealt with sensory & information overload, lived with an interest-based nervous system, been frozen by perfectionism, experienced neurological difficulties with changing tasks— or the plethora of lovely things that come with autism & ADHD. Or, they have, but they aren't self-aware enough to recognize this within themselves.
Either way, they write me off as being lazy, irresponsible, uncaring, etc. When that has never been the case. Life has stacked more against me than some people, true. I'm no longer interested in letting those patterns perpetuate. I'm here to get to the root of the problem.
If you can relate, and you feel drawn to do so— give me a follow!
I'm a small-business owner in Lafayette, IN.
I'm a holistic health practitioner with several years of experience
& I want to help people find that spark within:
The drive to keep going, when they feel like giving up!
I want to build a community of people who hype each other up, who are dedicated to learning more about themselves, who support one another, who face their problems and grow from them, who break old patterns, etc.
I want to build a community of people who overcome their obstacles & learn to enjoy their lives to the fullest— no matter what odds are stacked against them.
On my website, I have started a blog, where I post resources to help my clients. Today, once I find my motivation, I'll be working on the 1st post in a series called Alchemize Your Life. If you're interested, go follow my blog~ https://wishuponawillow.com
How do you start your day—
When you're tired before you've begun?
Today, I drank caffeine, ate breakfast, pet my cats, soaked up some sunlight in my backyard ...
Now, I'm going to take a hot shower to soothe my aching back. Maybe I'll go on a walk in nature & take some more photos of this beautiful town.
The 1st step doesn't have to be task 1. The first 6 steps don't have to be from your to-do list.
Do what you can to get yourself moving, to get in a better mindset. Listen to music that motivates you, get your body moving. The to-do list can wait, just a little bit longer. It can wait until you've breathed deeply, until you've hydrated, until you've cried in the shower, until you've loved your pets, until you've gained some momentum in your day. Then, check off one task, then another. Reward yourself with small pleasures like you're playing a video game & getting prizes for quests.
You can do it sad, you can do it hopeless, you can do it scared, you can do it angry, you can do it numb.
The important thing is to do it.
Take one step, two step, three steps—
Into the life you're building for yourself.
It doesn't matter what happened yesterday. You can close the door on yesterday and choose differently today.
It doesn't matter what lies ahead. You don't have to carry the future on your back.
All that matters is right here, right now.
The next step. The next breath. The next choice.
Live in this moment, here with me right now.
We are going to learn to enjoy every moment,
No matter how much we have to unlearn.
&&That starts right now.
