That’s right! Someone has to keep the girlies’ skin intact. 💁‍♀️✨ And I absolutely love being that person.

Because there’s nothing better than watching a skin transformation turn into a confidence transformation.

When a woman feels good in her skin, it can change the way she shows up everywhere in her confidence, her work, her relationships, and her overall happiness.

Healthy skin isn’t just about looking better. It’s about feeling better in the skin you’re in. And after 20+ years in aesthetics, that is still my favorite part of what I do. 🤍

Now tell me, what’s the ONE thing about your skin you would change right now if you could? Drop it in the comments. I may just make my next post answering yours. 👇

And send this to a girlfriend who deserves to feel amazing in her skin too. ✨

Why do we use human stem cell–derived ingredients instead of plant stem cells?

Because we are human.

When we’re talking about supporting aging, perimenopausal and menopausal skin, I want ingredients that communicate with human skin biology.

Human-derived stem cell technologies have been studied for years in medical and regenerative applications, and research has also explored human stem cell–derived secretions for improving signs of skin aging.

But plant-derived and human-derived technologies are not the same thing.

For perimenopausal and menopausal skin, I’m interested in supporting the skin with ingredients that work with human cellular signaling and human skin biology.

Because when your hormones are changing, your skin needs more than another trendy ingredient.

It needs the right biological support. 🤍 follow and save

Does your skin mysteriously improve during the summer only for breakouts, hormonal acne, or eczema to return later? ☀️

That change is a clue worth paying attention to.

Sun exposure, vitamin D status, immune function, stress, inflammation, and even changes in your daily routine can all influence how your skin behaves. But if your symptoms consistently change with the seasons, it may be a sign that we need to look beyond the surface.

Your skin is your body’s largest protective barrier and it often communicates when something needs attention.

✨ Instead of simply covering up the symptoms, start asking:
What is my skin trying to tell me?

Understanding the clues your skin gives you can help you take a more comprehensive approach to supporting healthy, resilient skin—especially during perimenopause, when hormonal changes can make the skin more reactive and unpredictable.

“Should I just start with an aggressive treatment?”

This is one of the most common questions I get from new clients.

And my answer is almost always: condition your skin first.

Before jumping into advanced treatments, your skin needs to be properly prepared. That means being consistent with a customized skincare routine long enough to strengthen and condition the skin.

Then, you can gradually graduate into more advanced treatments.

Why? Because when you push skin too aggressively before it’s ready, you can end up with excessive peeling, redness, inflammation, sensitivity, and unnecessary downtime.

Your skin needs time to adjust. 💫

The goal isn’t to do the most aggressive treatment possible. The goal is to create the right treatment plan at the right time for YOUR skin.

So don’t jump into advanced treatments just because you want faster results.

Condition first. Progress gradually. Treat strategically.

MOISTURIZER IS NOT WHAT CHANGES YOUR SKIN.

We all know moisturizer. We’ve been using it since we were kids. But do you actually know what its primary job is?

Moisturizer is there to seal and protect the skin it helps occlude the products you’ve applied underneath and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

This is where people sometimes get confused.

They expect their moisturizer to change their skin to improve wrinkles, pigmentation, firmness, texture, or other signs of aging.

But those changes typically come from active ingredients delivered through targeted serums and treatments.

Think of your moisturizer as the finishing step that helps keep everything in and supports your skin barrier.

And especially during perimenopause and menopause, when the skin can become drier, thinner, and more vulnerable to barrier disruption, skipping moisturizer is not something I recommend.

Your routine needs more than just hydration.

It needs skin nutrition + active ingredients + barrier support.

So if moisturizer hasn’t been a consistent part of your routine, this is your sign to start.

Your skin will thank you. 🤍

The CHEAPEST step in your skincare routine… is probably the one you’re skipping. 👀

TONER.

And no, toner isn’t just “water in a pretty bottle.”

Your skin has a natural pH, and cleansing can temporarily shift that balance. A good toner helps bring the skin back toward its optimal environment and preps it for the products you apply next.

Think of it as prepping the canvas before you paint. ✨

When you skip this step, you’re asking your skin to do more adjusting before it can fully take advantage of the products that follow.

And here’s where not all toners are created equal…

🤍 Spalina’s toner goes beyond pH balancing.
It contains lipids + essential fatty acids that mature, perimenopausal and menopausal skin desperately needs to support the skin barrier and keep your routine performing at its best.

So yes, it may be one of the least expensive products in your routine…

…but that doesn’t mean it’s the least important.

Stop skipping your toner. Your skin will thank you.

Save this as your reminder:
Cleanse → Tone → Treat → Moisturize → Protect.

✨ It’s kind of chic to love what you do. And after 20+ years in aesthetics, I can honestly say I still get excited about it.

I recently attended an aesthetics conference in Long Beach, and I left feeling so inspired by how far science has come and by what’s coming next.

When I started in this industry, the options were nothing like they are today. We now have access to incredible advances in skin science, technology, regenerative approaches and treatments that can help us support the way we look, feel and age.

And I especially love seeing where this science is taking us when it comes to women in perimenopause and menopause. There is so much more to understand about how hormonal changes affect our skin, body and overall well-being and so many more tools becoming available to help us navigate those changes intentionally.

What a privilege it is to live in a time when we can learn more, have more choices, and be proactive about how we want to feel in our bodies and show up in the world.

20+ years in, and I’m still learning. Still curious. Still excited about what’s next. 🤍

Science is evolving. And so are we.
