Venom Week Symposiums are international, scientific conferences held every 2-3 years attended by leading experts on venomous animals, their venoms, and management of envenomations. Symposiums cover a range of research and clinical topics including venomics and venom toxin research, drug discovery from venom toxins, laboratory methods, and clinical management of human and veterinary envenomations.

Turning Toxins into Treatments: Venom toxin diversity represents a large area for drug development purposes. This panel will discuss the state of the art in elucidating venom toxins for therapeutic applications. Experts in venomics and drug development will discuss the methods, therapeutic areas of interest (pain, cancer, …), challenges, and what lies ahead for collaboration in this area. Therapeutics and Diagnostics for Envenomation: What’s new, what’s needed, and what’s next. This panel discussion will focus on the needs and opportunities for developing new treatments, diagnostics and other tools to more effectively manage envenomations.
