I am in need of a kidney transplant and have recently registered with the National Kidney Registry (aka: NKR).
The NKR has an exceptional support program for anyone interested in becoming a donor. If you or anyone you know is interested, not only do they have educational pamphlets and videos on this site, but you will also have the opportunity to speak with a donor mentor - someone who has been through the process and willing to speak with you about their experience.
If you are someone that lives out of state - that is ok! You may be able to donate at a local facility that participates with the NKR. They participate with approximately 100 transplant centers across the country!
