Two minimally invasive procedures — Kyphoplasty and Vertebroplasty — can relieve the pain of vertebral compression fractures.
✅ You may be a candidate for Vertebroplasty if you have:
• A painful vertebral compression fracture (often from osteoporosis or cancer)
• Pain that hasn't responded to rest, medication, or bracing
• A stable fracture confirmed on imaging
✅ You may be a candidate for Kyphoplasty if you have:
• A compression fracture AND significant loss of vertebral height
• A curved or collapsed spine you'd like partially restored
• Osteoporosis-related fractures within the past several months
Both procedures stabilize the fracture, but Kyphoplasty uses a balloon to create space and restore height before filling with cement — making it a better fit when spinal deformity is present.
