In the springtime, our body needs movement. Springtime is the time of the Wood Element, governed by the Liver and Gallbladders meridians. These channels are responsible for the nourishment of the tendons and ligaments of the body and need exercise and action. On an energetic level, it is good to express a lot of creativity and playfulness during this time. For nutrition, avoid greasy stagnating foods and incorporate sour foods such as citrus fruits, sour plum, green apples, pomegranate, hawthorn berry, vinegar, sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, yogurt, kefir and sourdough bread.

Spicy foods can exacerbate dryness and hot conditions in the body.

If general, if you commonly experience flushed skin, intense thirst, mouth ulcers, skin rashes, dark urine, constipation, irritability, anxiety, restlessness and/or insomnia.

It is good to avoid overly stimulating and heat producing foods like spicy peppers, garlic, caffeine and alcohol.

Try more cooling and moisturizing foods like celery, cucumber, daikon, kelp, lettuce,
mung beans, water chestnuts, radish, spinach, plums, rhubarb, watermelon, cabbage, asparagus, broccoli and peppermint tea.
